Lead the reporting products that support decisions across New Zealand’s state highway infrastructure portfolio
Do you understand how leaders use information to drive performance, and do you have the curiosity and passion to turn their needs into simple, clear and trusted reporting products that will improve transport outcomes?
We are looking for a Principal Analyst – Performance Reporting Products to bring analytical and product leadership to transform our suite of performance reporting products.
This is a role for someone who can operate confidently between senior business users, analysts and technical specialists, bringing together three critical strengths: working with customers to understand their business needs, product ownership and strong analytical judgement that turns data into actionable insights. We need someone with proven Principal-level judgement and influence.
As Principal Analyst – Performance Reporting Products, you will lead the business ownership and continuous improvement of key performance reporting products, ensuring they enable a data-driven performance culture for governance and decision making.
You will work closely with senior business leaders and their key advisors to identify what matters, understand what information they need to drive performance, and translate those needs into clear priorities for our reporting products.
You will lead the technical squad responsible for delivering improvements to our reporting products, setting clear direction and priorities, managing competing demands and working across business and technical teams to deliver improvements that meet customer needs.
You will operate as a senior practitioner across the team, coaching and supporting analysts and senior analysts, influencing stakeholders and helping strengthen our overall reporting capability.
This is not primarily a hands-on dashboard development role. You will need sufficient technical knowledge to work effectively with Power BI, data and digital specialists, but your value will come from your ability to lead the product, understand the business problem, exercise sound analytical judgement and achieve outcomes through others.

You are likely to already be operating at Principal or equivalent level, taking accountability for complex work, influencing senior stakeholders, setting priorities and direction, and achieving outcomes through others rather than relying primarily on your own technical delivery.
