Every renter journey on Zillow starts with inventory. If the underlying listing data isn't complete, accurate, and rich, nothing downstream — messaging, touring, applications, leasing — performs the way it should. This role owns that foundation.
The Principal Product Manager for Listings will set the strategy for what makes Zillow's rental selection the deepest, richest, and most complete on the internet. You'll own how rental inventory is sourced, ingested, enriched, and scored for quality — ensuring consumer-facing teams have the best possible data to work with. This spans listing completeness and content quality, inventory coverage and growth, and the data and content partnerships that differentiate Zillow's selection. You'll partner closely with feed engineering on data quality and platform reliability, and represent listings strategy to senior leadership and external partners alike.
This is a high-visibility, strategic product role — not a narrow pipeline role. Get this right and you create a flywheel: richer inventory drives more renter engagement, which attracts more and better inventory. You're building the marketplace's core advantage.
What you'll tackle:
Listing completeness & quality: Raise the depth and quality of listing data across all inventory — pricing transparency, amenities, media richness, and the completeness scores that directly drive renter trust and conversion. You'll define what "great" looks like and build the system that gets inventory there at scale.
Coverage & inventory growth: Grow the breadth and depth of rental inventory on Zillow across property types and sourcing channels.
Data & content partnerships: Source new content partnerships (media, floor plans, review content) and optimize existing feed and aggregator relationships — negotiating, onboarding, and tuning third-party data sources so Zillow has the most comprehensive, highest-quality rental selection anywhere.
Platform reliability & syndication: Partner with engineering to keep the listings pipeline stable, performant, and trustworthy — balancing committed roadmap work against urgent partner escalations, and making disciplined tradeoffs when the two collide.
What success looks like:
Measurably better listings: A rising share of inventory delivered complete, accurate, and rich — backed by a completeness standard the whole ecosystem can rally around.
Broader, deeper coverage: Meaningful growth in rental inventory across channels and property types.
Partnerships that differentiate: New and optimized content partnerships that make Zillow's selection unmistakably the richest on the internet.
A reliable, scalable foundation: A listings platform that partners and renters trust — stable, performant, and ready for whatever the marketplace throws at it.
You treat listings as a product, not a data feed. You care deeply about the completeness and quality of every listing on the platform — and you understand how upstream inventory decisions drive downstream renter experience and marketplace performance. You bring clarity to ambiguity, influence without authority, and make everyone around you better.
10+ years in a Product Management role, with a focus on building consumer-facing technology products. Marketplace and/or e-commerce experience required.
Inventory & marketplace strategy: You think holistically about supply-side strategy — growth, quality, and the flywheel between inventory depth and consumer engagement.
Data quality & systems thinking: You're comfortable working with feed engineering on data pipelines, completeness scoring, and quality frameworks. You understand how upstream data decisions ripple into the downstream renter experience.
Partnership management: You've managed data and content partnerships at scale — negotiating, onboarding, and optimizing third-party data sources — and you're credible in the room with external partners.
Prioritization under pressure: You can hold a committed roadmap while absorbing unplanned work, with disciplined scope management and clear, honest tradeoff communication.
AI fluency: You actively use AI tools across the product development lifecycle — research, prototyping, analysis — and can think critically about where and how AI creates value in the product. You're an effective partner to AI/ML teams and comfortable evaluating AI capabilities, build-vs-partner-vs-buy decisions, and the tradeoffs inherent in AI-powered products.
Exceptional communication skills (verbal, written, and visual) with the ability to articulate complex ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences and influence at all levels.
Consistent record of shipping successful products at scale.
