Job Summary

HP CS&MS is seeking a Principal Product Manager to serve as a Engineering PM for our Knowledge Management and Generative AI platforms. In this role, you will design, build, and evolve enterprise‑grade systems that power knowledge delivery, search, and AI‑assisted experiences used globally by customers and support agents.
 

This is a hands‑on technical leadership role for an engineer who enjoys solving complex problems, shaping architecture, and guiding delivery across both internal teams and global software service partners. You will play a key role in ensuring HP’s platforms are secure, scalable, resilient, and easy to maintain, while enabling the next generation of AI‑driven capabilities.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Do
 

Technical Leadership & Program Management

• Work with and evolve the architecture for large‑scale knowledge and AI‑enabled platforms
• Design systems that balance performance, scalability, security, and cost
• Establish engineering standards and reference architectures used across teams
• Lead design reviews and guide complex technical decisions
• An expert is Knowledge Management, you can easily create solutions for Knowledge Management including transformation, migration ETL scripting and ensure that Software and our SW Vendor Managers have clarity on both technical and business requirements
  .

Hands‑On Engineering

• Design, develop, and review production‑quality code for backend services, APIs, and pipelines
• Build prototypes and reference implementations to validate architectural approaches
• Drive best practices for CI/CD, observability, reliability, and operational readiness
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex, high‑impact technical issues
• Understand the application of AI based Code Development best practices
   

Machine Learning & Generative AI Enablement

• Partner with data science and ML teams and SW orgs to operationalize AI capabilities
• Enable search, retrieval, and AI‑assisted knowledge experiences
• Integrate generative AI responsibly into enterprise platforms
• Ensure solutions are well‑grounded, explainable, and production‑ready
• Expand the RAG knowledge base through MCP based integrations
   

Partner & Vendor Technical Leadership

• Act as the technical authority for work delivered by global software service providers
• Review and assess partner designs, implementations, and delivery quality
• Ensuring alignment with HP architecture, security, and engineering standards
• Translate business needs into clear, executable technical directions
   

Collaboration & Mentorship

• Collaborate with product, security, data science, privacy, and business teams
• Mentor engineers and raise overall engineering maturity
• Influence platform roadmaps through technical insight and leadership

What You Bring

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience
• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience in Knowledge Management Applications
• Proven experience designing and delivering enterprise‑scale cloud software systems
• Strong background in system design, application architecture, and backend development
• Experience working through distributed or outsourced engineering teams
• Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships
   

Technical Skills

• Strong programming skills in one or more modern languages (e.g., Java, C#, Python)
• Experience with API‑driven and microservices‑based architectures
• Cloud‑native system design experience
• CI/CD pipelines, source control, and modern DevOps practices
• Observability, performance optimization, and reliability engineering
   

Preferred Experience

• Knowledge management or content‑centric platforms
• Search technologies (lexical, semantic, or hybrid)
• Machine learning or generative AI platform integration
• Data pipelines and large‑scale content processing systems
• Agentic AI implementation, modular role development and MCP integration
• Experience operating systems at global scale

Principal Scope

This role may be hired a Principal level product engineer:

• Principal Engineers define platform‑level architecture, influence multiple teams, and act as long‑term technical stewards.
   

Both levels are expected to be hands‑on, technically credible leaders that can apply technology to deliver business outcomes, as such you should bring a history of innovation and leadership in shaping the use of leading-edge tech.
