Imagine having the power to stress-test an entire power grid against a hurricane or thunderstorm before the clouds even gather. That is the reality we are creating at Neara.
We use advanced machine learning to create engineering-grade, physics enabled digital twins of electricity grids across four continents, this helps asset owners understand their biggest challenges and bring the most viable solutions to life across millions of kilometres of infrastructure.
By simulating extreme weather and structural stress at a network-wide scale, we empower the world’s largest utilities to pinpoint risks, optimise investments and build a more resilient global energy future.
Our team is a collection of brilliant minds who are fanatical about making a tangible difference in the real world, utilising AI and machine learning to accelerate everything from data classification to complex scenario analysis. We have built a special culture where innovation thrives because everyone owns the mission and we need smart, creative people to help us scale this impact to every corner of the globe.
We’re looking for a Product Designer to help us create thoughtful, high-impact product experiences; someone who can combine strong UX craft with sharp product thinking to solve complex problems in practical, elegant ways.
We’re open to exceptional product designers at both mid and senior levels, and will calibrate the scope of the role to match your experience and growth trajectory.
This is an opportunity for a designer who enjoys working deeply with product managers and engineers, thrives in ambiguity, and wants to help shape both product experiences and design maturity in a growing company.
As a Product Designer at Neara, you’ll help drive discovery and design across multiple product initiatives, increasing our ability to solve customer problems in parallel and improve usability across the platform.
Lead end-to-end design work from discovery through to delivery across new and existing product areas
Conduct and synthesise user research including interviews, usability testing, surveys, and workflow analysis
Translate complex product and technical requirements into intuitive workflows, wireframes, prototypes, and polished UI designs
Partner closely with product managers and engineers to shape solutions that balance user value, technical feasibility, and business goals
Identify usability issues and proactively drive improvements across the product experience
Contribute to and evolve the Nitro Design System, improving consistency and design efficiency across teams
Help visualise future product concepts and strategic product direction through exploratory design work
Present work clearly to cross-functional stakeholders, incorporating feedback while advocating for strong user-centred decisions
4+ years of experience in UX or product design roles, ideally in SaaS or complex software environments.
Strong experience across the full design lifecycle: discovery, wireframing, prototyping, high-fidelity design, and validation.
Ability to design elegant solutions for technically complex workflows and data-rich products.
Experience conducting user research and discovery activities including interviews, surveys, usability testing, and product analysis.
Strong ability to break down ambiguous problems, identify unknowns, and define structured paths forward.
Confident using user insights and design principles to explain and defend design decisions.
Experience working closely in cross-functional teams with product managers and engineers.
Comfortable navigating fast-paced startup, scale-up, or consulting-style environments.
Able to move fluidly between tactical design execution and strategic product thinking.
Experience designing enterprise SaaS, infrastructure platforms, or technically sophisticated B2B products.
Experience contributing to or scaling design systems.
Familiarity with geospatial, engineering, or data-visualisation products.
No-ego, outcome-oriented team players. We back each other and win together.
Curious designers who ask thoughtful questions and seek to deeply understand users before solving.
Pragmatic problem solvers who balance ideal design with real-world constraints.
Strong communicators who can articulate rationale clearly across technical and non-technical audiences.
Collaborative partners who welcome feedback and contribute positively across disciplines.
Confident advocates for users, grounded in evidence rather than opinion.
Self-directed operators who spot opportunities and take initiative to improve experiences.
Competitive salary + ESOP. Significant career development and growth opportunities.
Fully flexible working arrangements with a well-stocked office in Redfern.
Highly meritocratic, non-bureaucratic, and no-ego work culture.
The opportunity to work on complex, meaningful products and real-world problems.
The opportunity to play a direct, critical role in the trajectory of a high growth company.
Neara values diversity, belonging, and equal employment opportunities. We encourage individuals from all backgrounds to apply.
