Job Description
We are seeking a UX Designer to drive user-centered design across Thermo Fisher Scientific's One Lambda™ software portfolio—supporting transplant diagnostics and HLA laboratory workflows. This role spans both application-level experiences (e.g., HLA typing, antibody analysis tools) and platform-level systems (e.g., lab data management, interoperability, and workflow orchestration). You will design for highly specialized users (lab technicians, clinicians, transplant coordinators) and complex, data-intensive environments where accuracy, efficiency, and regulatory compliance are critical.
Thermo Fisher software solutions support the analysis, interpretation, and management of transplant diagnostic data, including HLA typing and antibody monitoring.
DESCRIPTION
How you will make an impact:
Application-Level UX:
- Design intuitive workflows for complex scientific applications (e.g., HLA typing, antibody analysis, sequencing data visualization)
- Translate highly technical lab processes into usable, efficient interfaces
- Create wireframes, interaction models, prototypes, and high-fidelity UI designs
- Optimize workflows for accuracy, speed, and error reduction in regulated environments
Platform-Level UX:
- Design cross-product experiences that unify multiple One Lambda software tools into a cohesive ecosystem
- Contribute to shared design systems, interaction patterns, and data models
- Improve interoperability and data flow between applications (e.g., instrument → analysis → reporting)
- Partner with engineering on scalable UX patterns for enterprise/lab platforms
User Research & Validation:
- In partnership with product managers and business analysts, conduct contextual inquiry with customers
- Translate domain complexity (immunogenetics, transplant diagnostics) into actionable design insights
- Validate designs through usability testing and iterative feedback loops
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with product managers and software engineers
- Balance user needs with compliance requirements (e.g., IVD software constraints)
- Support agile development with clear design specs and documentation
REQUIREMENTS
How you will get here:
Required:
- 3–7+ years of UX design experience (healthcare, life sciences, or enterprise software preferred)
- Experience designing complex, data-heavy applications (not just marketing/UI surfaces)
- Strong interaction design and information architecture skills
- Proficiency in design tools (Figma, Sketch, etc.) and prototyping
- Experience working with cross-functional teams in technical environments
Preferred:
- Experience with laboratory software, healthcare diagnostics, or scientific tools
- Familiarity with regulated environments (e.g., FDA, IVD, GxP)
- Experience designing for data visualization and scientific workflows
- Background in platform or systems design (design systems, multi-product ecosystems)
- Emphasize AI-assisted analysis UX
- Include workflow automation and decision support UX
- Add global usability considerations
