Position Overview:

We're looking for a Product & Regulatory Counsel (AI) to be the legal voice in the room when our AI and biometric products are designed, built and launched. You'll turn fast-moving regulation into practical product requirements that teams can actually use, across new and existing products, including generative and agentic AI.

Why this role is different

• Shape how AI is built - your advice influences how our AI and biometric products are designed, developed and deployed across multiple countries

• Work with proprietary AI, not just third-party AI tools - Onfido (now part of Entrust) has been building AI-powered identity verification in-house since 2012

• Join a collaborative, forward-thinking team – we're curious about how we work and embrace the use of legal tech and AI tools

Key Responsibilities

• Partnering with AI, Product and Engineering teams to turn regulation on AI, biometrics and fraud signals into pragmatic product requirements, guardrails and checklists

• Advising on how we procure and use AI, from third-party systems to internal use cases, with governance that manages risk without slowing teams down

• Building Entrust's AI governance framework: policies, standards and review processes that people will follow

• Creating playbooks, training and guidance that enable teams across the business work confidently with AI

• Scanning for emerging AI, biometric and liability regulation, and turning it onto clear implications for our portfolio and roadmap

• Supporting our IDV Product teams as they enter new markets and launch new products across EMEA

What you’ll need

• 3-5 years’ post-qualification experience, including 1-2 years’ in-house (a secondment counts)
• A good grasp of AI legal and governance principles, including the EU AI Act
• Qualified to practise law in at least one jurisdiction (LLB or equivalent, such as the GDL), with unrestricted work authorisation
• Fluency in English (written and spoken)

Nice to have

• Experience running regulatory assessments across jurisdictions
• Experience creating playbooks, training and practical guidance that helps cross-functional teams put legal, regulatory or AI governance requirements into practice

Who will thrive in this role:

• Product mindset: you enjoy being involved from the start of a build and turning regulatory requirements into product requirements, design guardrails and checklists. You give clear recommendations and enjoy working with data scientists, product managers and engineers
• High agency and sound judgment: you spot problems yourself, set the approach and drive complex work to completion with limited direction, making sensible, risk-based calls when information is incomplete
• Methodical and well documented: you structure your analysis and record your reasoning so others can find, trust and reuse your work. Risk assessments, decision logs and guidance are habits for you
