Turn strategy into action and help shape how Augusta Life Sciences partners with Japan's BioPharma and Biotech industry.
The BioPharma Strategy & Market Development Project Lead will play a key role in advancing Augusta Life Sciences Japan BioPharma strategy in Japan, leading strategic initiatives across the pharmaceutical and biotechnology market from conception to completion. This role combines strategic thinking, commercial insight and project leadership to identify opportunities and translate them into focused, executable initiatives.
You will turn strategy into action by bringing together the right expertise across the organisation, leading strategic customer initiatives from initial engagement through to execution.
Working across sales, marketing, applications and other specialist teams, you will orchestrate cross-functional efforts to determine how best to approach priority customers, mobilise the right resources and keep strategic initiatives moving forward.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage multiple concurrent projects within the BioPharma & Biotech segment, adhering to timelines, budgets, and scope.
- Develop comprehensive project plans, including detailed schedules, resource allocation, risk assessments, and communication strategies.
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients, fostering strong relationships and ensuring clear communication of project progress and challenges.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams (e.g., R&D, regulatory, commercial) to ensure seamless project execution and alignment with company objectives.
- Identify and mitigate project risks, proactively addressing issues and implementing corrective actions to maintain project momentum.
- Monitor and report on project performance, providing regular updates to stakeholders and senior management.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of best practices for project management within the BioPharma & Biotech segment.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and technological advancements to inform project strategies and identify new opportunities.
- Mentor and guide junior project team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
- Ensure all projects comply with relevant industry standards, regulations, and company policies.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific field (e.g., Biology, Biotechnology, Pharmacy, Biochemistry) or a related engineering discipline. A Master's or Ph.D. is highly preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in project management within the biopharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
- Proven track record of successfully leading complex projects from initiation to closure.
- Strong understanding of drug discovery and development processes, clinical trials, regulatory affairs, and manufacturing within the BioPharma & Biotech sector.
- Excellent leadership, communication (written and verbal), and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, work effectively under pressure, and meet tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in project management software and tools.
- PMP or equivalent project management certification is a significant advantage.
- Japanese (fluent but native preferred); English (business proficient)
What Makes This Role Unique
- Help shape Augusta Life Sciences's approach to an important area of the Japanese life sciences market.
- Work across functions rather than being limited to one product or discipline.
- Partner with global teams while developing approaches relevant to the Japan market.
- Combine scientific understanding with commercial and strategic thinking.
- Build experience that can support future progression into broader marketing and leadership roles.
