This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Project Manager, Video Distribution based in the United States.
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the planning and delivery of a large-scale terrestrial Content Delivery Network (CDN) initiative supporting satellite-terrestrial video distribution across the United States. In this role, you will coordinate complex technical programs designed to deliver a resilient, scalable video distribution platform capable of handling peak demand and network disruptions. You will work closely with engineering, network architecture, operations, customers, affiliates, and technology partners to turn technical strategies into actionable delivery plans. Your work will help optimize bandwidth usage, manage operating costs, and maintain reliable service during challenging conditions, including significant weather events. You will oversee project execution from requirements and design through testing, deployment, and operational handoff. This is a remote consulting opportunity requiring close collaboration across distributed teams, with working hours primarily aligned with Eastern Time.
Develop and maintain the integrated project plan, including schedules, milestones, dependencies, resource requirements, and delivery roadmaps for the terrestrial CDN and packet recovery program.
Coordinate cross-functional activities involving video engineering, network architecture, operations, testing, customer teams, affiliates, vendors, and external technology partners.
Organize and facilitate requirements, design, planning, status, risk, and decision-making meetings, ensuring clear documentation of outcomes, responsibilities, and deadlines.
Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, risks, assumptions, issues, dependencies (RAID), change control, and governance throughout the project lifecycle.
Translate complex technical concepts involving CDN architecture, IP media transport, packet recovery, headends, network capacity, and monitoring into structured workstreams and actionable plans.
Monitor progress against capacity planning, traffic engineering, regional scalability, last-mile bandwidth optimization, and cost-management objectives.
Coordinate test planning and execution across laboratory environments, peak-demand scenarios, packet-loss and recovery testing, network resilience, weather-event simulations, and operational-readiness assessments.
Define and monitor measurable acceptance criteria, including recovery performance, latency, network availability, capacity, utilization, and operational reporting.
Manage vendor evaluations, procurement dependencies, implementation commitments, and delivery performance across technology partners and engineering resources.
Identify, assess, and escalate risks that could affect technical performance, interoperability, timelines, budgets, customer readiness, or operational continuity.
Coordinate deployment planning, customer and affiliate readiness, communications, cutover activities, implementation validation, and transition to ongoing operations and support.
Ensure deliverables align with architecture standards, Concept of Operations (CONOPS), operational controls, monitoring requirements, and lifecycle management processes.
Provide concise, decision-oriented updates to senior leadership and technical stakeholders, covering progress, blockers, trade-offs, financial impacts, and recommended actions.
Build effective relationships across engineering, operations, vendors, customers, affiliates, and business teams while maintaining accountability for project outcomes.
At least 7 years of project or program management experience leading complex initiatives in technology, telecommunications, networking, media, or infrastructure.
Demonstrated experience managing large, cross-functional technical programs from initial planning through testing, deployment, operational readiness, and handoff.
Working knowledge of large-scale video distribution, live and linear video delivery, Content Delivery Networks (CDNs), IP-based media transport, or distributed network environments.
Strongly preferred: Experience with satellite-terrestrial distribution, headends, earth stations, TAPs, receivers, packet recovery, media edge, or related video infrastructure.
Understanding of terrestrial IP networking, traffic management, capacity planning, network resilience, monitoring, and optimization.
Experience managing integrated project plans, budgets, RAID logs, dependencies, change control, governance, status reporting, and executive communications.
Experience coordinating test strategies, acceptance criteria, deployment readiness, cutover activities, and operational transitions for critical technology platforms.
Experience managing technology vendors, implementation partners, and external technical resources.
Preferred: Familiarity with ARQ, RIST-based transport, packet recovery networks, or Video Services Forum specifications, including VSF TR-06-4 Parts 6 and 7.
Ability to understand the end-to-end video distribution ecosystem and connect technical delivery decisions to measurable business outcomes.
Strong analytical, organizational, and decision-making skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and make timely, data-informed recommendations.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical topics to business stakeholders and senior executives.
Strong collaboration and stakeholder-management capabilities, including the ability to influence teams without direct reporting authority.
Proficiency with project management, documentation, reporting, and collaboration tools, including Microsoft Project, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Telecommunications, Broadcast Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Project Management, or a related discipline.
PMP or Agile certification is preferred but not required.
Successful completion of applicable background screening requirements.
Must be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship or visa transfer.
Availability to work primarily Eastern Time hours in a remote environment.
Annual salary range: $110,000–$150,000, depending on experience, education, geographic location, skills, qualifications, and certifications.
Long-term consulting opportunity.
Fully remote work arrangement.
Collaborative and communicative working environment.
Opportunity to contribute to high-impact projects shaping the video distribution and technology industries.
Professional development and career growth opportunities.
Autonomy and responsibility for managing workloads and delivering project outcomes.
Supportive team environment that values employee contributions, professional empowerment, and continuous growth.
