This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a QA Automation Analyst based in Canada.
This is an opportunity to play a key role in advancing software quality across the full Software Testing Lifecycle. You will design, develop, execute, and maintain automated test suites that help identify defects early and accelerate reliable product releases. Working closely with business, solution, development, and QA stakeholders, you will translate requirements into robust testing strategies and automation solutions. The role combines hands-on engineering with analytical problem-solving and continuous improvement. Your work will strengthen testing frameworks, reduce production risks, and give development teams greater confidence in delivering high-quality software. You will also contribute to modern QA practices through CI/CD integration and AI-assisted testing tools. This is a fully remote position open to candidates across Canada.
Accountabilities:
- Develop a strong technical understanding of client needs, project requirements, and proposed software solutions.
- Review Software Requirements Specifications with Solution Analysts and provide feedback to improve testability and quality.
- Contribute to Software Test Plans by defining testing scope, objectives, approaches, and expected outcomes.
- Collaborate with technical stakeholders to develop detailed estimates and work packages for QA activities.
- Design, develop, execute, and maintain automated integration, system, and acceptance tests to validate software requirements.
- Build and maintain robust automation frameworks using tools and technologies such as Selenium, Cucumber, Playwright, REST Assured, Java, and JUnit.
- Integrate automated tests into continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines to support efficient and repeatable releases.
- Perform API testing across RESTful and SOAP-based web services and validate end-to-end application behavior.
- Investigate, document, and triage software defects, working with relevant stakeholders to support timely resolution.
- Prepare and review testing defect reports, progress updates, and test summary reports.
- Apply QA best practices across the Software Testing Lifecycle and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Leverage AI and LLM-based tools to enhance test planning, test generation, automation, and overall QA efficiency.
Requirements:
- Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- 3+ years of experience developing automated tests using technologies such as Selenium, Cucumber, Playwright, REST Assured, Java, or JUnit, particularly for Java-based UI modules and web services.
- 3+ years of experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong understanding of the Software Testing Lifecycle and experience designing and executing unit, integration, system, and acceptance-level test suites.
- Experience with API testing for RESTful and SOAP services using Postman, SoapUI, or comparable testing frameworks.
- Working knowledge of SQL, including basic data retrieval queries and joins.
- Experience with version control systems such as Git or Perforce.
- Familiarity with build tools such as Maven, Ant, or Gradle and CI tools such as Jenkins or TeamCity.
- Experience working with web servers such as Apache HTTP Server or NGINX.
- Strong Java programming experience and familiarity with TypeScript, particularly for Playwright automation.
- Understanding of service-oriented architecture and design principles.
- Familiarity with relational and non-relational database concepts and design.
- Experience using AI/LLM-based tools to improve test planning, test generation, or QA productivity.
- Excellent presentation and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at different organizational levels.
- Highly self-motivated, autonomous, detail-oriented, analytical, and proactive, with strong problem-solving abilities.
Benefits:
- Salary: $60,000–$75,000 CAD per year, with placement within the range based on skills, education, qualifications, experience, performance, organizational needs, and location.
