Quality Engineer, Motors and Generators

Your role and responsibilities

We are looking for a Quality Engineer for ABB’s Motion High Power, Motors and Generators division. In this role you will be an integral part of our quality team, contributing directly to the development, improvement, and execution of our quality processes.

You will take ownership of end-to-end quality for one of our key customers, playing a central role in identifying improvement opportunities, enhancing quality performance, and strengthening customer satisfaction. The role requires a customer-centric mindset and a willingness to solve complex technical challenges.

The position is based in Helsinki, Pitäjänmäki. We offer a hybrid working model with on-site presence of approximately 50% of the time.

You will be mainly accountable for:

• Owning end-to-end quality for key customer account
• Identifying critical quality issues and initiating improvement impulses
• Leading and executing cross-functional quality projects
• Ensuring product quality through systematic problem-solving, necessary containment actions and preventive actions
• Conducting root cause analyses
• Developing and maintaining the Quality Management System (QMS)
• Reporting progress, quality metrics, and results to internal leadership and customers

Qualifications for the role

• Few years of relevant work experience, with a proven track record in product or process quality improvement
• Knowledge with quality analysis tools, such as Minitab
• Forward-looking, organized, and solution-oriented mindset
• Well-developed self-management and prioritization skills
• Good teamwork and communication skills, both written and verbal
• Confidence in customer-facing situations, including delivering presentations
• B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or another relevant technical field
• Fluent spoken and written English and Finnish

The High Power Division offers a comprehensive product portfolio of large AC motors and generators and drives. From general purpose to highly customized designs, synchronous motors and high voltage induction motors provide high efficiency, reliability and availability across all major industries and applications, including some in the toughest and most demanding environments. The division also has a long track record of designing and building generators for wide range of industries, including power generation, marine, oil and gas, mining, and data centers.
