As an Engineer, you will design, build, and operate scalable data solutions while ensuring they remain reliable, secure, and compliant in a regulated environment.
You’ll work with modern cloud-native technologies and contribute to platforms that make an impact across ING.

You will be part of small, high-performing engineering team working on real-time data platforms that support multiple business domains.
Our team focuses on building scalable, resilient, and compliant data solutions that enable ING to process and act on data in real time.

Roles and responsibilities
In this role, you will combine engineering with operational ownership in a regulated environment:
Design and develop real-time data processing applications
Build and operate APIs and data services across multiple domains
Take end-to-end ownership following the “You build it, you run it” principle
Ensure solutions are scalable, reliable, and well-monitored
Improve data flows and integrations together with domain stakeholders
Contribute to technical design and engineering best practices
Ensure compliance with IT risk, security, and regulatory standards
Manage lifecycle activities (LCM) such as upgrades, patching, and decommissioning
Identify and remediate security vulnerabilities
Support incident management, monitoring, and audit processes

Experience with Kubernetes, Apache Flink, and Java
Proven ability to build data pipelines or APIs in a cloud-native environment
Understanding of distributed systems and real-time processing
Awareness of security, risk, and compliance practices
Strong ownership mindset with focus on quality and reliability
Collaborative and proactive approach to problem-solving
