The healthcare industry still relies on faxes and phone tags to coordinate critical care for patients at home. We think patients and the clinicians who serve them deserve better than a system stuck in 1995.
Verse Medical is building the modern software infrastructure to make it happen. We're a well-funded Series C company (backed by General Catalyst, SignalFire, and Sapphire Ventures) on a mission to heal a fragmented system. Our platform connects the dots between providers, payors, and patients, ensuring people get the high-quality care they need, reliably and right where they live. We’re growing fast and looking for people who are driven by this mission to join us!
Our values are the operating system for how we work together and with our partners. They aren't just words on a wall; they are the principles we bring to every decision, every day.
We are transparent, upfront and direct. We operate with honesty and clarity. We share information openly, the good and the bad, and believe that direct, respectful feedback is the foundation of trust and progress.
We value speed of iteration. We are building something new, which means we learn by doing. We prioritize rapid iteration and getting solutions into the hands of users, believing that progress is more valuable than perfection.
We give 110% effort, 30% of the time. We are passionate about our mission, and there are moments that require us to go the extra mile. We believe in focused intensity when it counts, balanced by a sustainable pace that keeps our team energized for the long run.
We empathize with customers to a fault. When our users face a problem, we own it. Instead of asking them to change, we ask ourselves, "How can we make this better?" We believe true innovation comes from deep empathy and a relentless focus on solving the real-world challenges of healthcare.
As a Respiratory Therapist on our Respiratory Support Team, you will be the clinical backbone of Verse’s home respiratory program. You will make sure every patient on CPAP, BiPAP, ventilation, or oxygen is set up correctly, monitored closely, and documented to the standard payors require, so patients get safe, effective therapy without delay.
Day to day, you will:
Serve as a clinical SME for home respiratory. Be Verse’s clinical expert across CPAP, BiPAP/RAD, invasive and noninvasive ventilation, and oxygen. Maintain the clinical content within SOPs for each category and communicate changes to Operations and Compliance.
Provide clinical oversight and escalation. Deliver patient instruction, verify device setup, and monitor treatment effectiveness. Act as the escalation point behind the sleep coach and patient support layer, and route concerns that may require a prescription change or physician evaluation to the prescribing provider.
Review remote monitoring data. Interpret device data across manufacturers and device types, including cloud-connected downloads and memory card or direct downloads, covering usage, residual AHI, leak, delivered settings, tidal volume, alarms, and event logs.
Track adherence and payor compliance. Monitor adherence against payor requirements (for example, the Medicare 30-day/90-day PAP qualifying window), triage and escalate non-adherence, document results in a payor-ready format, and flag billing-impacting gaps to Operations and Billing.
Support medical necessity documentation. Support coverage and recertification documentation across categories (SWO review, qualifying tests and saturations, vent and RAD criteria). Verify that device settings match the prescribed order, and request a new order from the prescriber for any change. Review oxygen qualifying testing and saturations, recertification documentation, and the appropriateness of the oxygen modality ordered.
Cover high-acuity and life-sustaining equipment. Review alarm and event logs for ventilator and high-acuity BiPAP patients, escalate critical alarms and therapy interruptions to the ordering provider, and review the clinical implications of device swaps, replacements, and returns. Participate in rotating after-hours on-call coverage, with documentation of all clinical interactions.
Vendor partnerships. Serve as clinical liaison to external partners and vendors.
We believe that diverse experiences and backgrounds lead to better solutions. While we have an idea of what will help someone succeed in this role, we are open to being convinced by your unique story and skills. If you believe you can achieve the outcomes above, we encourage you to apply.
Core Skills & Experience:
CRT required, RRT strongly preferred.
Active RT licensure in at least one of our target states (Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Ohio, Tennessee), with willingness to obtain others, which Verse will reimburse.
Home or DME respiratory experience in at least two of PAP, RAD, home ventilation (including NIV), and oxygen. Ventilator or NIV experience is strongly preferred.
Working knowledge of Medicare DMEPOS coverage criteria for each category, and familiarity with Medicare Advantage authorization and documentation requirements.
Experience interpreting device data from multiple RAD and ventilator manufacturers, and comfort learning new platforms.
Comfortable working in a remote/telehealth care delivery model, including patient interaction by phone, video, or asynchronous messaging.
A clear, concise communicator who can explain clinical reasoning to non-clinical teammates and to patients.
A habit of writing things down. You build SOPs, criteria matrices, and training material rather than keeping the rules in your head.
Comfort with ambiguity and speed. We move quickly, the process often does not exist yet, and you will be the one to build it.
We believe in taking care of our team, both professionally and personally. Here’s what we offer:
Compensation: $90,000-$105,000
Comprehensive Health & Wellness: We cover 100% of your health insurance premium and provide access to high-quality dental and vision insurance plans for you and your dependents.
Plan for the Future: We offer a 401(k) plan to help you save for your future. At this time, the company does not offer a 401(k) match.
Career Growth: You'll have opportunities for rapid career advancement in a company that's at a major inflection point. We want you to grow with us.
Work Environment & Location:
This role is fully remote, and we are open to strong candidates anywhere in the US. If you happen to be in New York City, you are welcome to work out of our Chelsea office, but there is no expectation to be onsite.
At Verse Medical, our mission is to deliver equitable, hospital-quality care to everyone, regardless of their background or where they live. We can only achieve this if our own team reflects the diversity of the patients we serve. We are committed to building a workplace where everyone feels a sense of belonging, where their contributions are valued, and where they can do their best work. We embrace diversity of all kinds: race, gender, age, religion, identity, experience. We are actively working to build a more inclusive and equitable world, starting from within our own walls. We are an equal opportunity employer.
We are also committed to providing a positive and accessible interview experience. If you require any accommodations to participate in our process, please contact us at recruiting@versemedical.com.
