About the role
We’re looking for a retail media leader to build and grow WITHIN’s work on retailer networks beyond Amazon, including Target Roundel, Walmart Connect, Chewy, Ulta Beauty, and Sephora. You understand that retail media sits between marketing and trade, and you can work with both. You own retail media as a WITHIN service, from how we audit, price, and sell it to how clients invest across networks, and you act as a senior advisor to clients. You’ll own results across the portfolio and help make retail media a bigger growth channel for WITHIN. We want someone who sets the direction for where retail media goes next at WITHIN, testing what’s new, deciding what’s worth scaling, and turning it into an innovative strategy for clients.
What you’ll do
Client leadership and growth
- Serve as a senior partner to client stakeholders, including their sales and trade teams, leading quarterly business reviews and annual planning
- Identify growth opportunities within existing accounts, including new networks and WITHIN’s other channels
- Lead audits, scoping, pricing, and pitches for new retail media business with the sales team
- Build relationships with partner teams at each network
Strategy and execution
- Own how clients invest across retailers, and between onsite and offsite media
- Set the standards for how WITHIN plans, buys, optimizes, and reports across networks, and apply them hands-on across your own accounts
- Connect retail media plans to clients’ joint business plans and trade spend
- Build the playbooks, QA processes, and AI workflows WITHIN runs on
Measurement
- Set measurement standards so results from different networks can be compared, including incrementality testing where networks support it
- Make sure client reporting shows what moved, why, and what to do next
- Stay ahead of changes across retail media networks, and shape WITHIN’s point of view through case studies and thought leadershi
What you bring
- 6+ years of retail media, shopper marketing, or marketplace experience
- Deep knowledge of at least three of: Walmart Connect, Target Roundel, Chewy, Ulta Beauty, or Sephora media networks
- Experience working with brand sales or trade teams on joint business plans
- A strong grasp of how retail media measurement differs by network and how to compare results fairly
- Experience pitching new business, running audits, and scoping and pricing work
- Practical experience using AI tools in planning, execution, or reporting, and interest in building them into how a team works
- Strong written and verbal communication, including with senior client stakeholders and leadership
- Experience as the senior strategist or channel lead across multiple clients in an agency setting, or a proven track record of managing retail media networks hands-on
- A track record of pushing a channel forward, from testing new products and tactics early to turning what works into innovative strategy for clients
Nice to have
- Amazon Ads, Amazon DSP, or Amazon Marketing Cloud experience
- Experience with Instacart, Kroger, Costco, or other retail media networks
- Experience with clean rooms
- Experience building a new practice or service line at an agency
- Paid media experience
- TikTok Shop experience
- Retail media experience
