A Day in the Life: Sales Executive
You’ve spent years building a book in third-party logistics (3PL). You know how to find the freight, win the shipper, and turn a first load into a lasting account. Now you want a platform that lets you move fast. That’s us.
Trinity Logistics is hiring a Sales Executive for our Houston office. This is a true hunter role. You’ll go after new business from day one, open doors with shippers across Houston and beyond, and grow accounts into long-term partnerships. You won’t do it alone. You’ll have the backing of an experienced Team, a nationwide carrier network, and a full suite of services to sell: truckload, less-than-truckload (LTL), open deck, heavy haul, intermodal, drayage, expedited, warehousing, international, managed transportation, and logistics technology solutions.
Why does this role matter? Simple. The business you bring in is what keeps Trinity growing. If you’re a competitive closer who loves the chase and wants to see results fast, let’s talk!
What You’ll Do
- Prospect and close new shipper accounts through cold calls, referrals, LinkedIn, and face-to-face meetings
- Build and work a strong pipeline with clear, measurable activity and revenue goals
- Uncover each shipper’s pain points and build freight solutions that fix them
- Negotiate rates and terms that win the business and protect margin
- Grow new accounts by cross-selling Trinity’s full service mix
- Partner with Operations and Carrier Sales Teams to deliver a great first load and every load after
- Track activity and opportunities in our CRM
- Represent Trinity at customer visits, trade shows, and industry events in the Houston market
Is This You?
- A natural hunter who loves the thrill of landing a new account
- Competitive and driven by goals, rankings, and earning potential
- Confident on the phone and in the room
- A relationship builder who earns trust quickly
- A problem solver who knows freight well enough to speak a shipper’s language
- Organized, detail-oriented, and great at managing your time
Details of the Job: Is This for You?
- Five-plus years of 3PL or freight brokerage sales experience, with a proven record of meeting or beating quota
- A track record of opening new accounts, not just managing existing ones
- Strong understanding of truckload and LTL pricing, plus working knowledge of other modes
- Open deck and heavy haul sales experience preferred
- Must live in or near Houston, TX, and work on-site at our Houston office
- Willing to travel locally and regionally for customer meetings and events
- Strong negotiation, presentation, and business writing skills
- Comfortable reading and using business data to spot opportunities and guide decisions
- Some after-hours or weekend work as customer needs and seasonality require
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; CRM experience strongly preferred
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required – your results speak loudest
- Commitment to living the Trinity Guiding Values
Your Future with Trinity: Are We What You’re Looking For?
- Base salary plus a lucrative, uncapped commission plan – the more you sell, the more you earn
- Laid-back working attire – who doesn’t love wearing jeans to work?
- Ample benefit package options, including medical, dental, and vision, a wellness program, tuition reimbursement, and discount programs
- 401(k) with a 100 percent match up to 6 percent
- Generous PTO offering
- Fun team-building activities
- Strong focus on internal advancement and promotion from within
- Trinity Foundation – constant opportunities to give back to the community
