The hiring range listed is a good faith determination of potential compensation at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future. The Instructor position requires advanced expertise in skeletal biology, bone marrow stromal and progenitor cell biology, osteoblast and osteoclast regulation, bone remodeling, inflammatory signaling, molecular biology, and translational musculoskeletal research. These areas of specialized knowledge are essential to the performance of the position's research responsibilities and are normally acquired through completion of a doctoral degree in a closely related scientific discipline and extensive postdoctoral research training.
The Instructor position further requires proficiency in advanced experimental methodologies used in contemporary musculoskeletal and translational research, including conditional genetic mouse models, lineage-tracing approaches, primary human cell studies, molecular biology techniques, flow cytometry, genomic and epigenomic profiling methods, and computational analysis of complex biological datasets. Dr. Qin possesses extensive experience in these specialized methodologies, including in vivo mouse models, lineage-tracing approaches, conditional genetic knockout models, primary cell and human sample studies, histology and immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence microscopy, flow cytometry, quantitative PCR, Western blotting, ELISA, CRISPR-based approaches, ChIP-qPCR, FAIRE, bulk and single-cell RNA sequencing, single-nucleus RNA sequencing, ATAC-seq, CUT&RUN, and ChIP-seq.
The Instructor position is critical to ongoing research programs within the HSS musculoskeletal research enterprise and requires an individual capable of independently designing, conducting, and interpreting complex laboratory investigations involving skeletal biology, inflammation, bone remodeling, and implant-associated pathology.
The position will support critical research activities within the HSS musculoskeletal research program, particularly projects focused on bone regeneration, skeletal cell biology, osseointegration, peri-implant biology, the bone marrow microenvironment, and the mechanisms underlying orthopaedic disease and treatment outcomes.
The laboratory is actively investigating the mechanisms underlying implant loosening, periprosthetic fibrosis, inflammatory responses associated with orthopaedic implants, and interactions between immune cells and skeletal tissues that contribute to disease progression and treatment outcomes. These studies require specialized expertise in skeletal biology, inflammation, bone remodeling, and advanced molecular and cellular research techniques.
The position requires expertise in skeletal stromal and progenitor cell biology, osteoblast differentiation, inflammatory signaling, and bone marrow niche regulation. Dr. Qin's scientific background is directly relevant to these research priorities and positions her to contribute immediately to research programs involving osseointegration, implant-associated fibrosis, prosthetic joint infection, inflammatory bone loss, and bone remodeling.
