Job Summary:
The Process Engineering Manager will support and collaborate with the leadership team at the Sedalia, MO manufacturing operation to pursue technical excellence in our manufacturing operation. Together, with the engineering team, the manager will be responsible for planning and directing the activities of the engineering department for the purpose of creating a sustainable operation through safety, quality, environmental, and productivity improvements. Also, the engineering department maintains responsibility for supporting the relevance of the operation in the future through the industrialization of new products, materials, and processes to ensure our facility can meet the demands of the rapidly growing power distribution market.
Supervision Scope:
Direct Supervision of the engineering department.
Positions directly reporting to engineering manager include, Process Engineer, Process Technician, and Die Shop Technician
Job Responsibilities:
Responsible for the plant Continuous Improvement (C.I.) program. Lead the plant C.I. Council and implement C.I. initiatives through leadership, training, and event organization.
Develop, design, and maintain process lines within the operation.
Assure material specifications to produce the highest quality products.
Utilize project management techniques to accurately forecast, manage, and coordinate project budget schedules.
Prepare, update, and execute a capital strategic plan for process improvements, capacity expansion, and new product lines.
Develop and implement the latest technologies to support the Business Strategy.
Support the facility to make productivity improvements in the production process. These improvements will ensure the operation generates profits which are shared with our workforce through an annual gainsharing plan.
Work with other managers to ensure the process follows the safety, quality, and environmental plans.
Collaborate with team members to collect, analyze, and distribute data for plant Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Some examples of KPI data include but are not limited to: Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), machine changeover times, 6S audits, process scrap, and process usage.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related technical discipline.
5 years of process engineering or process management experience.
Proven ability to complete projects through collaboration and teamwork.
Continuous improvement training and experience (Six Sigma, Kaizen, Gemba, DMAIC, Value Stream Mapping, Kanban, Heijunka, etc.)
Excellent team building skills - as team leader, team member or trainer.
Enthusiastic individual who has demonstrated ability working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Good attention to detail and the ability to make long-term strategic decisions that will positively impact the process and the people working in the operation.
Effectively manage complex tasks through thoughtful resource deployment and demonstrate ability to prioritize tasks to achieve optimal results.
Ability to motivate, communicate and drive continuous improvement through methodologies that support our team members’ ability to successfully execute process improvements.
Critical and analytical thinking skills with the ability to communicate complex engineering techniques to non-technical team members.
Good understanding of business principles and practices and ability to create financial solutions that positively impact the company and its shareholders which include Prysmian employees.
Solid planning, budgeting, and administrative skills.
Highly energetic, enthusiastic, and caring person with ability to interact positively with the hundreds of employees that come to work each day and each night at the Sedalia operation.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in Engineering or MBA
Metallurgical or Plastics processing experience specific to the wire and cable industry - highly desirable
Work Environment / Physical Demands:
Frequent tasks involving walking, standing, squatting, and bending are required.
Occasional manual lifting to 40 pounds
Wearing Personal Protective Equipment required for job duties and required tasks.
