As a Senior Crude Oil Market Analyst, you will serve as the primary guardian of data integrity and market coverage for Kpler’s global crude oil intelligence, with a dedicated focus on the Americas. Operating at the intersection of data engineering and market research, you will act as the harshest critic of our datasets—relentlessly auditing cargo flows, inventories, and refinery activity to catch errors and anticipate anomalies before they reach clients. In this autonomous role, you will transform raw physical trade flows into clear, objective market commentary, giving global market participants an unvarnished view of supply, demand, and arbitrage dynamics.
Key Responsibilities
- Guard Data Integrity: Daily monitor, validate, and audit crude oil flows, inventories, and refinery data across North America to ensure unmatched accuracy and consistency.
- Perform Advanced Market Analysis: Analyze cargo movements, supply and demand trends, and freight dynamics across the Americas to extract actionable insights from complex datasets.
- Resolve Data Anomalies: Proactively investigate gaps, inconsistencies, and system errors, performing root-cause analysis and partnering with engineering to implement permanent fixes.
- Deliver Concise Market Updates: Write clear, data-driven market commentary and ad-hoc updates (2–3 paragraphs) highlighting Kpler’s proprietary data without speculative forecasting.
- Optimize Analytical Workflows: Drive continuous data quality improvements and leverage cutting-edge AI developer tools (such as Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor) to increase operational efficiency.
- Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Partner with Data Engineering, Product, Sales, and Customer Success teams to address technical queries, support client engagement, and demonstrate data value.
