Dave vs. Goliath. We’re Dave.

Dave is a financial app on a mission to build products that level the financial playing field. It is redefining the financial landscape by leveraging technology to create an affordable, transparent, and user-centric access to liquidity for millions of Americans. As a leading innovator in the U.S. financial services sector, Dave’s digital financial platform offers products designed to meet the credit needs of those underserved by traditional financial institutions. Dave’s offerings include its flagship ExtraCash product, providing members up to $500 within minutes. The company is on track to launch several new product offerings in 2026, including a Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) option.

Dave is focused on serving Americans who are financially vulnerable or living paycheck to paycheck. Dave is leading the charge in creating a new era of credit products that prioritizes speed, affordability, and accessibility, making it the go-to financial partner for those who need it most.

We’re hiring a Senior Data Analyst, Reconciliation to help build the data foundation behind how Dave tracks, validates, and understands money movement across our financial ecosystem.

The Opportunity

Reconciliation sits at the center of trustworthy financial infrastructure. Every transaction moving through Dave’s internal systems, banking partners, ACH networks, and payment processors needs to be accounted for — and when something doesn’t match, we need to understand why.

In this role, you’ll design the data models, pipelines, matching logic, and monitoring that make reconciliation more accurate, scalable, and easier to operate. You’ll work across Engineering, Finance, Accounting, and Reconciliation Operations to turn ambiguous financial-data problems into durable systems. Not everything is fully defined today, which means you’ll have meaningful influence over how this capability evolves.

What You’ll Build & Own

• Build reliable pipelines and dbt models that reconcile transactions across internal ledgers, operational systems, banking partners, ACH networks, and payment processors.

• Develop matching and anomaly-detection logic for timing differences, partial matches, delayed transactions, and true reconciliation breaks.

• Improve exception handling by surfacing unmatched or anomalous records with the context teams need to investigate and resolve them quickly.

• Own core reconciliation data definitions, documentation, lineage, testing, and quality standards so downstream teams can trust and use the data confidently.

• Identify opportunities to automate manual reconciliation workflows through scalable data products, alerting, and self-serve tools.

• Explore practical uses of AI and machine learning, including probabilistic matching, anomaly detection, and AI-assisted classification or triage.

• Partner closely with Engineering, Finance, Accounting, and Operations to improve both the underlying systems and the processes built around them.

The Impact

Reliable reconciliation supports accurate financial reporting, smoother operations, and stronger controls across Dave. The systems you build will help teams identify issues earlier, reduce manual work, and maintain confidence in the financial data behind our products.

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years of experience in analytics engineering, data engineering, financial data, or a related technical discipline.

• Advanced SQL and strong experience with dbt or similar data-transformation frameworks.

• Strong Python skills for data modeling, data quality, automation, or pipeline development.

• Experience building and maintaining reliable data pipelines and data models at scale.

• Experience independently leading ambiguous projects from problem definition through implementation.

• Strong communication skills and the ability to translate technical data issues for both engineering and business partners.

• Experience working with complex transactional or financial datasets.

Bonus

• Experience with reconciliation, settlements, ACH, payment rails, or financial operations.

• Experience with Snowflake, Databricks, Airflow, or similar data platforms and orchestration tools.

• Experience with fuzzy or probabilistic matching, anomaly detection, or entity resolution.

• Practical experience applying machine learning or LLM-based tools to analytics or operational workflows.

• Fintech or broader financial-services experience.

What Makes Someone Successful Here

You’re comfortable starting with a question like “why doesn’t this add up?” and working toward a solution that holds up over time. You care about accuracy and reliability, while making thoughtful tradeoffs between speed, complexity, and long-term maintainability. You look beyond the immediate data issue to understand how your decisions affect Finance, Engineering, operations, and Dave members.

You also work collaboratively. You ask thoughtful questions, communicate clearly, and use feedback to sharpen your approach. When new information changes the path, you adjust without losing momentum. You help improve the systems around you rather than creating processes that depend on one person to keep them running.

What to Expect

This role comes with meaningful autonomy and evolving priorities as Dave’s reconciliation capabilities mature. Decisions are grounded in data, and you’ll have the opportunity to shape both the technical approach and the operating model in partnership with teams across the company.

Why Join

• Build something foundational. Help define how reconciliation data is modeled, governed, and used across Dave.

• Work on meaningful technical challenges. Timing differences, partial matches, and multi-rail money movement require strong judgment and thoughtful systems design.

• Have broad business impact. Your work will support financial accuracy, operational efficiency, audit readiness, and better decision-making.

• Stay close to the mission. Trustworthy financial infrastructure helps Dave build products that give everyday people better access to their money.

Technologies We Use and Teach

• SQL, Python, Snowflake, dbt, Airflow, Looker
