Senior DEVOPS engineer

The right candidate will build and improve the platform for our critical IT assets. The chapter consists of seasoned and independent DEV engineers.

The team

The team is responsible to support the Vantage, GRID and TPAM applications that provide the Wholesale Banking with capabilities for their customer administration. The position is a DevOps role and requires building and working with Websphere, Java/Spring, Azure, configuration as code, automation with Ansible, knowledge on the current tooling like MPDLv2, Prometheus & Grafana.
 

Roles and responsibilities

As senior IT engineer who sets the example, transfers knowledge to the chapter, drives innovation, voices opinions and delivers as a member of a squad.

Together with the IT Area Lead and Chapter Leads you manage and develop the Vantage-GRID platform.Focus is on ensuring operational availability of services to the customers next to compliancy to IT Risk Controls (including audits), using consistent software delivery through environments (DTAP). As this area is going through a time of many developments and changes, it is a dynamic area in which there is lots of opportunity to learn, grow and excel.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure security, stability and performance of applications
• Set up and maintain CI/CD pipelines deployments
• Monitor applications, resolve incidents and continuously improve reliability

Senior experience as a Java developer

• Strong knowledge of:
• Java 8+, Spring, PERL, Drools,
• REST / SOAP APIs
• SQL
• Deep knowledge and experience  with DevOps and CI/CD pipelines
• Knowledge of monitoring and alerting tools (e.g. Elastic, Log4J, Kibana, Grafana)
• Awareness of application security principles, with minimum of Blue Security champion certification
• Fluent in English (spoken and written)
   

Your experience:

• A master’s degree in Software Engineering
  • Proven track record and proficiency in JAVA software development (10 + years): backend or front end (and thorough knowledge of the other, you are expected to be able to work on front- and backend). Emphasis is on back end.
  • We are moving towards pure DevOps profiles, so you are expected to refine, code, test and deploy your own work on our on-premise and container environments.
  • An itch and self-motivation for solving technical and functional challenges.
  • Great analytical skills and conceptual / architectural understanding, ability to quickly understand new technical concepts that are outside of your comfort zone.
  • Strong interest and vision in recent trends in software development and technology in general, with special interest in AI & developments
  • We expect the ability to transfer knowledge back to the ING Bank by holding presentations, workshops, documentation and most important: setting new standards for the ways we do tech.
  • Strong social and communication skills. Being a sparring partner for our business colleagues
  • IT Risk awareness, understanding of security concepts in software development
  • Hands-on and pro-active attitude
