Job Description:
We are seeking a Sr. Director of Engineering to lead and evolve our platform architecture, engineering processes, and end-to-end delivery operations. This is a high-impact leadership role for a technically fluent executive who believes that AI-augmented engineering is the future of software delivery and who brings a relentless drive for continuous improvement.
You will own the technical vision for our platform, set the standard for how teams build and ship software, and embed AI-enabled toolsets into every phase of the development lifecycle—from design and coding through testing, deployment, and observability. The ideal candidate sees AI not as a bolt-on experiment but as a core accelerator woven into the fabric of how modern engineering teams operate.

What You'll Do
Platform Architecture & Technical Strategy
Define and maintain the long-term platform architecture roadmap, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security across all systems.
Evaluate and adopt emerging technologies—including AI/ML infrastructure, cloud-native patterns, and modern data platforms—to keep the architecture competitive and forward-looking.
Establish architectural guardrails, design review processes, and technical standards that balance innovation with operational stability.
Partner with Product, Research, and Security leadership to align platform capabilities with business objectives.
AI-Enabled Engineering & Delivery
Champion the integration of AI-powered development tools (e.g., AI code assistants, automated code review, intelligent testing frameworks, AI-driven incident response) into day-to-day engineering workflows.
Develop and track metrics that quantify the impact of AI toolsets on velocity, quality, and developer experience.
Build a culture where teams actively experiment with AI capabilities, share learnings, and iterate on tooling adoption.
Stay current on the rapidly evolving AI-for-engineering landscape and make strategic build-vs-buy-vs-integrate decisions.
Engineering Processes & Continuous Improvement
Own and continuously refine the engineering delivery lifecycle, including CI/CD pipelines, release management, incident management, and post-incident review processes.
Implement data-driven frameworks (DORA metrics, cycle time analysis, defect escape rates) to identify bottlenecks and drive measurable improvements in throughput and quality.
Foster a culture of kaizen—small, frequent, compounding improvements—across all engineering teams.
Lead process transformation initiatives that reduce toil, eliminate waste, and free engineers to focus on high-value work.
Leadership & Team Development
Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing organization of engineering managers, architects, and individual contributors.
Recruit and retain top engineering talent by creating an environment of psychological safety, technical excellence, and career growth.
Set clear goals and accountability structures; communicate progress transparently to executive stakeholders.
Drive cross-functional alignment with Product, Design, QA, and DevOps to ensure cohesive delivery.

Strong command of engineering metrics and a data-driven approach to process optimization.
Exceptional communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for executive and non-technical audiences.
Experience managing and scaling engineering organizations of 15+ engineers across multiple teams.
