Senior Director, Wealth AI Portfolio Governance & Performance
Role Purpose
The Senior Director, Wealth AI Portfolio Governance & Performance, is responsible for driving governance, performance transparency, benefits realization, financial oversight, delivery readiness, and executive reporting across the Wealth AI portfolio. Acting as a strategic operating partner to the Head of AI, the role ensures AI initiatives are appropriately governed, funded, measured, and positioned to deliver measurable business value while maintaining alignment to risk, compliance, and responsible AI requirements.
Role Scope
The role provides portfolio-level leadership across:
- Portfolio governance and executive decision support
- Benefits realization and value tracking
- Funding, financial planning, and resource alignment
- Delivery readiness, risk management, and issue escalation
- Executive reporting and stakeholder communication
- Portfolio operating model discipline and continuous improvement
Key Responsibilities
1. Portfolio Governance & Performance
- Maintain portfolio governance, reporting, performance metrics, and executive visibility across Wealth AI initiatives.
- Ensure initiatives have clear objectives, ownership, funding, timelines, risks, dependencies, and measurable outcomes.
- Provide portfolio insights, escalation support, options, and recommendations to senior leadership.
- Support executive decision readiness by ensuring portfolio materials are accurate, concise, and aligned to approved scope, funding, delivery status, risks, and business outcomes.
2. Benefits Realization & Financial Oversight
- Track business benefits, adoption, delivery health, portfolio performance, and value realization.
- Partner with Finance and business stakeholders to align funding, benefits, fiscal planning inputs, and resource assumptions.
- Maintain portfolio financial transparency by connecting funding, benefits, delivery timelines, and expected outcomes.
- Identify and escalate material impacts to expected benefits, funding assumptions, delivery commitments, or business outcomes.
3. Delivery Risk & Portfolio Controls
- Monitor portfolio risks, dependencies, resource constraints, delivery readiness, and initiative-level execution risks.
- Support delivery readiness by helping ensure initiatives have clear scope, ownership, requirements maturity, governance readiness, and practical next steps.
- Coordinate issue resolution and ensure appropriate governance, compliance, responsible AI, and control considerations are visible and addressed.
- Maintain visibility of key decisions, actions, risks, dependencies, and open issues across the portfolio.
4. Executive Reporting & Stakeholder Management
- Prepare executive updates, governance materials, decision summaries, action trackers, and portfolio dashboards.
- Translate complex portfolio, financial, delivery, risk, and benefits information into concise and actionable leadership reporting.
- Influence and align stakeholders across business, technology, finance, risk, compliance, and delivery teams.
- Ensure communications are clear, timely, and focused on decisions, risks, ownership, and measurable outcomes.
5. Operating Model Improvement
- Continuously enhance portfolio governance, reporting standards, benefits tracking, decision processes, and escalation practices.
- Promote consistent portfolio management practices across Wealth AI initiatives.
- Support the maturity of the Wealth AI portfolio operating model by improving transparency, accountability, delivery readiness, and value realization discipline.
Required Experience
- 10+ years leading portfolios, transformation programs, or strategic initiatives in financial services.
- Experience with governance, benefits realization, delivery oversight, financial management, risk management, and executive reporting.
- Experience working with senior stakeholders across business, technology, finance, risk, compliance, and delivery functions.
- Familiarity with AI, automation, digital transformation, data-enabled solutions, or technology-enabled business change.
- Experience operating in complex, matrixed environments where priorities, funding, ownership, and delivery dependencies must be actively aligned.

$121,600.00 - $211,800.00
Salaried
The above represents BMO Financial Group’s pay range and type.
Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
