This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Financial Data Analyst based in Canada.
This role combines financial analysis, data analytics, and automation to turn complex financial information into actionable business insights. You will support budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and performance management across a large-scale enterprise environment. The position offers an opportunity to work with modern tools including SQL, Excel, Power BI, Python, and AI-enabled analytics platforms. You will collaborate closely with Finance, Technology, Risk, Operations, and Business teams to improve decision-making and reporting efficiency. A strong focus on data quality, automation, and continuous improvement makes this a highly analytical and impactful position. The role is remote and suited to an experienced professional who enjoys solving complex problems and applying emerging technologies to finance.
Accountabilities:
- Analyze financial data to support budgeting, forecasting, reporting, financial performance reviews, and strategic business decisions.
- Develop and maintain financial reports, dashboards, KPIs, analytical models, and management reporting using Excel, SQL, Power BI, and related tools.
- Perform variance, trend, forecasting, financial performance, and cost-driver analysis to identify risks, opportunities, and actionable insights.
- Validate, reconcile, and maintain financial data across enterprise systems while investigating and resolving data quality or reporting issues.
- Build and maintain financial models and support month-end and quarter-end reporting activities.
- Use AI-enabled tools such as Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, Power BI Copilot, and similar platforms to accelerate analysis, reporting, documentation, and insight generation.
- Identify opportunities to use AI and automation to detect anomalies, streamline recurring reporting, and improve financial processes.
- Automate financial reporting and analytical workflows using Python, Power Automate, or other appropriate automation technologies.
- Prepare executive-level financial summaries, presentations, recommendations, and data-driven insights.
- Collaborate with Finance, Technology, Risk, Operations, and Business stakeholders to deliver accurate and meaningful analysis.
- Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, process improvement initiatives, and projects designed to enhance reporting and analytical capabilities.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- 5+ years of experience in financial analysis, business analysis, data analytics, or FP&A, including substantial experience with financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and financial modeling.
- 3+ years of hands-on SQL experience for financial data analysis and reporting, with experience working with large datasets and enterprise systems.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including complex formulas, PivotTables, financial modeling, and data analysis.
- 2+ years of experience with Power BI or a comparable business intelligence platform.
- 2+ years of experience using Python, R, or other data analysis and automation technologies.
- 2+ years of practical experience using AI tools for financial analysis, reporting, productivity, process automation, or business insights.
- Experience with enterprise financial systems such as ERP, General Ledger, Treasury, or Investment Management platforms.
- Strong understanding of financial concepts, KPIs, data quality, reconciliation, management reporting, and financial performance analysis.
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional Finance, Technology, Operations, and Business teams, preferably in an Agile/Scrum environment.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate complex data into clear business recommendations.
- Experience in Banking, Financial Services, Insurance, Wealth Management, or Investment Management is an advantage.
- Familiarity with platforms such as Tableau, Snowflake, Power Automate, or modern analytics environments is a plus.
- Knowledge of responsible AI, data privacy, security, governance, and regulatory considerations is desirable.
