Sparkfund is the utility services company unlocking capacity on the grid. Through its Distributed Capacity Procurement (DCP) model, Sparkfund enables utilities, energy majors, and large-load customers to deploy front-of-the-meter batteries and gensets as distribution infrastructure. By adding targeted capacity exactly where and when the grid needs it most, DCP helps meet demand, support reliability, and put downward pressure on rates. Sparkfund supports program design, grid value assessment, asset host engagement, and value chain management to ensure on-time, on-budget deployment with maximum system value and lowest cost.
With more than 3,200 projects deployed across 43 states and more than 300MW of energized assets constructed, Sparkfund is transforming customer-sited assets into a valuable portfolio resource for the benefit of our society. To learn more about Sparkfund, visit sparkfund.com.
Sparkfund is looking for a Senior Manager, Project Management with significant construction project delivery experience and a background in the energy industry to lead the planning and execution of a portfolio of complex energy and infrastructure projects.
This is a construction and energy project delivery role. Candidates must have direct experience managing the execution of construction projects involving energy infrastructure, electrical systems,, controls, distributed generation, battery energy storage, solar,or comparable energy technologies.
The Senior Manager will oversee multiple customer EPC projects, directly manage Project Managers and Project Coordinators, and serve as a primary point of contact for customer stakeholders. This role is accountable for project execution across scope, schedule, budget, safety, quality, and customer expectations.
This position must be based in the Minneapolis area. While Sparkfund operates as a remote-first company, this role will have regular engagement with our Minneapolis hub and local team, in addition to travel to project sites.
Success in this role requires someone who understands how construction and energy projects move from development into field execution and can lead both a complex project portfolio and the people responsible for delivering it.
Our values shape how we work, make decisions, and show up for our customers and each other. They are also part of how we evaluate success at Sparkfund.
We hold ourselves to high standards and continuously look for ways to improve.
In this role, Excellence means bringing rigor to project planning and execution, maintaining high standards for safety and quality, anticipating issues before they become problems, and ensuring that our work is something we’re proud to put our name on.
We take ownership, follow through on our commitments, and make thoughtful decisions with the long term in mind.
For this role, Stewardship means treating customer relationships, project budgets, schedules, company resources, and safety responsibilities with care and accountability. It also means balancing the needs of the customer, our project teams, and Sparkfund when making decisions.
We approach challenges constructively, assume positive intent, support one another, and bring solutions.
For this role, Positivity means remaining steady when projects become difficult, communicating directly and respectfully, helping teams work through challenges, and creating an environment where people can solve problems together.
This role requires direct construction and energy project delivery experience. General project or program management experience in financial services, healthcare, software, manufacturing, or other non-construction environments does not substitute for the required construction and energy experience.
You can step above individual projects and manage the health of an entire portfolio, balancing scope, schedule, budget, safety, quality, customer expectations, and risk across multiple projects simultaneously.
You understand what it takes to execute construction projects in the field and can apply that experience within energy and infrastructure environments. You’re comfortable engaging with contractors, technical teams, site personnel, customers, and internal stakeholders.
You set clear expectations, create accountability, and develop Project Managers and Coordinators through coaching, feedback, and ongoing support.
You build credibility with customers and communicate project status, risks, challenges, and solutions clearly, including with senior and executive stakeholders.
You can make sound decisions when information is incomplete, prioritize competing needs, and keep projects moving in a dynamic environment.
You work effectively across technical, commercial, financial, operational, and customer-facing teams and understand that successful project delivery requires alignment across the organization.
The approved salary range for this position is $165,000–$209,000, based on experience, qualifications, and location.
Where applicable, this position may also be eligible for discretionary bonus or incentive compensation. Any such compensation is separate from base salary and is not guaranteed. Eligibility, amounts, and payment are subject to applicable plan terms, company performance, individual performance, and other business considerations.
