You will lead a small, senior team extending the software and data platforms that BCI's Investment Operations department runs on, and you will be expected to stay in the codebase and the architecture yourself.
Your clients are the Investment Operations department in full: Derivatives, Collateral, Cash, Trade Management, Settlements, Business Solutions, and Financial Engineering. Your closest partner in serving them is the Financial Engineering branch, a specialist quantitative modeling and development group embedded within Investment Operations. Financial Engineering owns its models, applications, architecture and analytical toolchain, and every member of that team, including its senior leadership, is hands-on in development and deployment.
The mandate of this role is to support and as required extend that codebase and application suite so that it supports all aspects of Investment Operation mandate both now and in the future. Your team supplies the engineering depth to make that possible: platform and pipeline engineering, data engineering, integration, AI-enabled tooling, and production-grade delivery. Given the size of the team, the person in this seat is a builder as much as a leader.
Reporting to Vice President, Investment Technology within the Technology department, you will lead a team of up to three software engineers. Your closest partner is the Senior Principal, Financial Engineering; much of the team's work is shaped and directed in concert with them, and your credibility rests on being someone they treat as a technical peer. Investment Operations are your clients, and you are Technology's single point of contact for them.
This role is based in our downtown Victoria, BC office. BCI is an in-person, collaborative organization with the flexibility to work remotely up to one day per week.
The annualized salary range for this Victoria based role at the is CAD $135,000 - $160,000.

The base salary will consider factors such as the individual's skill set, experience, and internal equity. We aim for actual pay to be around the market median for expected performance and the upper quartile for excellent performance. Actual salaries may vary based on experience and expertise.
