Hybrid
Abby Care is building the leading AI-native platform for family-led care. America is facing a growing care crisis. Millions more people need care at home than ever. Over 50 million family caregivers support loved ones without the tools, training, or recognition they deserve.
We believe families are the largest untapped caregiving workforce in America, and that technology can help them deliver better care while driving stronger outcomes and greater transparency across the healthcare system.
Abby Care combines clinical oversight with an AI-powered platform to train, enable, and support family caregivers in delivering high-quality care at home. Our platform helps health plans and government partners better understand, verify, and improve care in the home. We expand access to care, reduce reliance on higher-cost settings, and help ensure public dollars are spent effectively.
We are proud to partner with leading health plans, providers, and community organizations and are backed by top VCs. We envision a future where family-led care is a core part of the healthcare system. Abby Care is building that future.
Join us in solving one of the most important challenges of our time.
We are hiring a Senior Platform Engineer to build, own, and extend our cloud foundations. Reporting to the Platform Team Tech Lead, you will act as a primary architect for the infrastructure that supports our AI, software, and data products.
This role blends traditional platform engineering (faster builds, safer deploys, robust infrastructure) with the systems required to ship and verify AI-native features in a high-compliance healthcare environment. You will have the autonomy to shape how a modern engineering organization builds software, acting as a force multiplier for our entire technical team. If you are passionate about leveraging your expertise for good, sweating the details, and working in a tight-knit environment where real-time feedback translates to true product innovation, we want to hear from you.
This is a Full-Time Hybrid opportunity based in San Francisco, California.
Data Pipelines & System of Record
Own the Data Foundation: Be the point person for the pipelines and integrations that ingest, reconcile, and maintain first- and third-party data.
Orchestrate Workflows: Contribute to our data orchestration layer, ensuring that ETL pipelines and data workflows are reproducible, traceable, secure, and isolated for multi-tenant environments.
Enhance Observability: Build and improve observability and monitoring across infrastructure, applications, and data systems.
Cloud Infrastructure & Security
Own the Cloud Foundation: Operate, evolve, and architect our AWS-based cloud environment, balancing reliability, security, cost, and developer velocity as we scale.
Infrastructure as Code: Build and maintain scalable infrastructure using Terraform, establishing robust approaches to state management.
Harden Environments: Lead the technical implementation of cloud security and compliance requirements (HIPAA), embedding security throughout the software development lifecycle.
Developer Experience & CI/CD
Accelerate Engineering: Own the build tooling and CI/CD workflows that move code from idea to production. Make builds faster, tests more reliable, and releases seamless.
Build AI-Native Tooling: Create systems for automated development, bug triage, and validation. Design verification environments that test product behavior across agents, workflows, and customer-like scenarios before reaching production.
Turn Friction into Leverage: Partner with product and engineering teams to identify repeated bottlenecks and turn them into reusable abstractions and durable platform primitives.
Experience: 5+ years of full-time experience in backend, platform, product infrastructure engineering.
Engineering Fundamentals: Strong coding abilities with deep expertise in Python. You will use Python exclusively to build our backend systems, internal platform tooling, and data orchestration logic.
Cloud & Infrastructure: Deep expertise designing and operating production environments on AWS and mastering Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform).
AI-Native Mindset: You actively use AI tools, understand how they change software development, and possess strong instincts for where they can compress engineering cycles.
Security-First Approach: A track record of hardening cloud infrastructure and supporting security compliance initiatives, ideally within healthcare or enterprise SaaS.
Product Taste: You care deeply about developer experience and have strong instincts for building tools, CI/CD pipelines, and shared architecture that engineers actually want to use.
You establish ownership over core data and platform systems, turning them into multipliers for cross-team effectiveness.
You act as a key design partner, providing the systems foundation for both product and AI development.
The Abby Care System of Record remains high-quality, highly observable, and consistently correct.
You elevate the technical range of the team across integrations, infrastructure, data, and security while upholding healthcare industry standards.
Competitive compensation packages that reflect the value you bring. We reward our team for the impact of their work.
Comprehensive health coverage that works for you. Choose from high-quality medical dental and vision options, including a $0 deductible PPO and a company-funded HSA, alongside employer-paid life and disability insurance.

Financial savings benefits to support your future. We support your financial well-being with HSA contributions, optional FSA and commuter benefits, and full coverage of all 401(k) account fees (employer match not currently offered).
Paid parental leave to support your growing family. We provide paid leave, so you can focus on bonding and adjusting to life as your family grows.
Families First
Redefining healthcare starts with how we treat the parents and children we serve. We go above and beyond for every family, building strong, lasting relationships. We continually ask ourselves, “Would we want this for our own families?”
Urgency with Precision
Millions of families are waiting for care, and they cannot wait, therefore this is not your typical 9 to 5 job. We match their urgency with our own, delivering exceptional care without compromise. Here, speed and excellence go hand in hand.
Relentlessly Resourceful
As an ambitious startup, we adapt quickly and make the most of limited time and resources. We solve challenges with creativity to deliver results without unnecessary complexity.
Purpose with Positivity
We take our mission seriously while never losing sight of the people behind the work. Respect, kindness, memes, and coffee make us stronger as a team and better for the families we serve.
Driven to Redefine What’s Possible
We are here to make healthcare better, which means asking hard questions, challenging outdated systems, and finding smarter, more compassionate ways to deliver care.
