Valeo is a tech global company, designing breakthrough solutions to reinvent the mobility. We are an automotive supplier partner to automakers and new mobility actors worldwide. Our vision? Invent a greener and more secured mobility, thanks to solutions focusing on intuitive driving and reducing CO2 emissions. We are leader on our businesses, and recognized as one of the largest global innovative companies.
About the Role: As a Senior Product Engineer, you will be at the heart of our low-voltage platform development - owning the product architecture that connects mechanical, electronic, and software disciplines into robust, production-ready automotive solutions.
Because our products are highly multidisciplinary, we welcome candidates who bring a strong core expertise in fluid dynamics, systems engineering, or electronics. In this highly impactful role, you will leverage your specific background while bridging the gap between core platform development and application-specific integration. You will define how system, mechanical, hardware, and software disciplines come together to create cost-optimized products that power the future of eMobility.
Your Key Responsibilities:
Architectural Leadership: Define and own the product architecture and component structure in line with our modular platform architecture, acting as the technical bridge between engineering disciplines and ensuring coherent, scalable design decisions across the product lifecycle.
Technical Point of Contact: Act as the primary technical interface for global customers and internal cross-functional teams, ensuring clear communication and alignment on product architecture, technical requirements, and project deliverables.
System Integration: Translate system-level requirements into discipline-specific engineering requirements and ensure the seamless interoperability of all sub-systems - Mechanical, Hardware, and Software - from early concept through to production release.
Domain-Specific Leadership: Lead technical decisions, feasibility assessments, and effort estimations within your core area of expertise, while coordinating with dedicated specialists across other domains to ensure a fully integrated solution.
Design & Optimization: Drive a strict design-to-cost mindset throughout the development process. Ensure product robustness, conduct patent landscape reviews, and proactively identify and manage technical risks within the project architecture.
Problem Solving & Risk Management: Apply data-driven root cause analysis methodologies (8D, Ishikawa) to resolve complex design, manufacturing, and quality issues. Lead proactive risk mitigation through D-FMEA to identify and eliminate design weaknesses before they reach production.
Standardization & Mentorship: Champion engineering standards and best practices across the team. Support and facilitate Design Reviews, mentor junior and mid-level engineers, and drive the structured capitalization of technical knowledge and lessons learned.
What We’re Looking For:
Education:
Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or an equivalent field.
Experience:
5+ years of experience in automotive product development.
Demonstrated ownership of complex, cross-functional technical projects.
Proven ability to work across mechanical, hardware, and software disciplines in a structured development environment.
Language:
English: Full professional fluency required.
German or French: Strong asset.
We Offer:
Employment in an international automotive company with high work standards and an innovative environment.
Benefits:
Private medical care (Medicover).
Access to the Medicover Benefit platform (sports, culture, shopping).
Additional health and life insurance.
On-site canteen and social benefits.
Development opportunities through participation in internal and external training.
The chance to have a real impact on the development of modern automotive technologies and road safety.
