At Signal AI, we use cutting-edge AI technology to offer clarity on decisions that shape businesses and society. We value restless curiosity, creative thinking, and diverse perspectives as we strive to become AI-native. We believe that AI is a collaborator, not just a tool, and we invite passionate individuals to join us on our journey as we continue to learn, experiment, and grow together.
Engineers at Signal AI are expected to bring a strong product mindset to their work. They’re comfortable with complex problems and proactively look for ambiguous ones rather than wait for others to resolve them, and work wherever the product needs them across the full stack. Engineers work closely with other disciplines, including applied research and design, as part of teams that own revenue-critical products from ideation through to production.
Owning a product end to end means much of an engineer’s time goes on understanding the problem: talking to colleagues in research, design and product, testing assumptions, and deciding what is worth building.
Our engineering teams are organised around the needs of the business. We value collaboration and teamwork, and we believe the best solutions to complex problems come from working together. You will work primarily within a small cross-functional team, contributing to its architecture and to engineering standards. You will provide clear, focused technical plans for current and future solutions, and you will keep the long-term technical vision in view.
AI-assisted development is part of everyday work across the organisation. We expect engineers to use tools like Claude Code to move quickly across the entire software development lifecycle, so more of their time is spent on the product questions that matter.
Building intuitive user interfaces and data visualisations that unlock valuable insights for our customers.
Building services that can cope with large volumes of data.
Implementing and maintaining the AWS infrastructure that supports the services owned by the team.
Build, maintain and evolve large-scale distributed systems, ensuring they remain resilient.
Building observability into everything you ship (logging, metrics, alerting).
Owning BAU in your primary domain and building enough operational familiarity with the other domains to support incidents, understand cross-domain interactions, and describe architectural boundaries.
Collaborating with Product and Design to define and scope the products we build.
Communicating with other teams and stakeholders when needed.
Working in a collaborative environment. Pairing for most of your time, giving and receiving reviews, and helping to uphold the team’s shared quality standard.
This is not specifically an AI Engineer role, but every senior engineer in this team is expected to be AI-literate, in two directions: using AI to build better, and building AI into the product responsibly.
Keep your practice current. Use current models, coding agents and agent tooling in your daily work, and re-test earlier assumptions as capabilities change; what was unreliable six months ago may be routine today.
Open mind, evidence-led. Give a new tool, pattern or model a fair chance and evaluate it against our own codebases and workflows before ruling it out. Push back when something is presented as a silver bullet and adopting it would bring more risk, or more change, than the team can absorb. Make both calls on evidence, not on instinct or hype.
Quality bar parity. Agent-generated code and content are held to the same standard as human work. Review it, test it and secure it the same way.
Build to learn. A working prototype in front of a Product owner or a customer beats a slide. Be as willing to report a disappointing result as an exciting one, and kill weak ideas early.
Design the human checkpoints and watch the cost. For agentic features, define what the system may decide alone, what needs approval and what escalates, and keep token and run costs visible alongside the value delivered.
Share what you learn. Contribute to how the team adopts AI across the whole lifecycle (planning, review, testing and release, not only coding) and share your findings with the team and the wider P&T group, so practice spreads beyond one person.
We want you to apply for this position. We want people to enjoy a good experience at Signal AI and we appreciate your professional needs might be different to what we can offer.
Thriving in Dynamic Environments: If you thrive on stability and predictability, you might find our dynamic environment challenging. Our team frequently adapts to changing priorities, which can be incredibly exciting and rewarding for those who enjoy a fast-paced, ever-evolving workplace.
Versatile Skill Set: We value versatility and the ability to work on both back-end and front-end development, and across two product domains. If you are passionate about expanding your skills across different areas, you'll find this role enriching and fulfilling.
Collaborative Communication: Our culture emphasises building strong communication paths with various teams and stakeholders, including the Editorial team that depends on our tooling every day. If you enjoy collaborative problem-solving and sharing insights, you'll fit right in.
Team-Oriented Programming: We encourage pair programming and team collaboration over solo work. If you find joy in teamwork and learning from peers, you'll thrive here.
Flexible Coding Approaches: While we respect the discipline of TDD, we also appreciate flexible and innovative approaches to coding, and we prioritise observability over exhaustive test coverage. If you're open to experimenting with different methodologies, this role offers a great opportunity to broaden your horizons.
Leveraging AI: We're not just building AI products; we use AI to build better. We expect our engineers to actively explore and adopt AI tools that make them more productive, and to keep their critical thinking switched on while doing it.
Owning Our Systems: When something goes wrong in production, we don't point fingers. We fix it, learn from it, and improve our observability to catch it earlier next time.
If these aspects align with your professional values and aspirations, we believe you'll find a rewarding career with us at Signal AI.
At Signal we want to help organisations identify risks and opportunities and see movements in the market before anyone else. We want to help leaders make bold decisions, safe that the data is on their side. We want to connect all those external data points together, uncover the unknown unknowns, and be at the very heart of the knowledge economy.
We’ve already built a world-class artificial intelligence platform for real-time information aggregation and analysis at a massive scale. We proved our value with monitoring and measurement products in the PR & Comms space, and are now joining the dots beyond.
We are friendly and informal people who are passionate about our brand as we all have a stake in our success. We have an inclusive environment, welcoming the skills and experience from many diverse backgrounds, and together we have created who we are and what we sell. Not sure you meet every requirement? Studies show that women and other underrepresented groups often hesitate to apply unless they check every box. At Signal AI, diverse perspectives strengthen our teams, drive innovation, and lead to better performance. So even if your background doesn’t align perfectly with each qualification, we encourage you to apply if you’re passionate about this role.
We're dedicated to creating an inclusive environment where every Signaller feels welcomed, valued, and heard—a place where you can truly thrive as yourself.
