About the Role
As a Senior Software Engineer for the Send S1 Transaction API team, you will help design, build, and support scalable backend applications that power Mastercard’s Emerging Payments platform. You’ll work on high-impact initiatives contributing to Mastercard 3.0, partnering with engineering, architecture, and support teams to deliver reliable, secure, and production-ready solutions.
Role
•Design, build, and maintain backend applications using Java, Spring, and Hibernate
•Contribute to development of APIs and web services supporting transaction processing systems
•Apply strong object-oriented programming and software design principles to build maintainable solutions
•Collaborate with architects and technical teams to translate functional and technical requirements into design
•Prioritize work effectively and deliver against multiple project deadlines in a fast-paced environment
•Adapt quickly to a dynamic, Agile development environment and contribute to team outcomes
•Assist in evaluating and deploying new technologies and tools to improve development efficiency
•Support integration, testing, and deployment activities across the software development lifecycle
•Troubleshoot and resolve issues across applications and environments
•Work collaboratively across teams to ensure alignment with business and technical goals
All About You
•Experience developing applications using Java / J2EE, with strong understanding of object-oriented concepts
•Hands-on experience with Spring Framework (Spring Boot preferred)
•Solid working knowledge of Hibernate / ORM frameworks
•Experience building or consuming web services (REST, WSDL-first / top-down approaches)
•Strong understanding of object-oriented design and software development principles
•Experience working in an Agile development environment
•Proven ability to manage priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative team

In line with Mastercard’s total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role. The base salary offered may vary depending on multiple factors, including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. O'Fallon, Missouri: $115,000 - $184,000 USD
