Hi! I’m Ivan 👋 Director of Platform & Infrastructure here at WeTravel. I joined WeTravel to help build a secure, reliable, and scalable IT environment as we grow. Our team’s mission is to empower every WeTravel employee with the tools and support they need to work efficiently, securely, and without friction — no matter where they are in the world.
About WeTravel
Think of the most incredible adventures imaginable: trekking to Machu Picchu, cycling through Tuscany, or going on a safari in Kenya. For years, the small businesses and local experts who run these trips have been stuck using messy spreadsheets, countless emails, and complicated payment methods.
WeTravel is changing that. We build the tools that empower any entrepreneur to launch and grow their own travel business. Our platform makes it simple for organizers to create beautiful trip proposals, securely process payments, and manage their customers, so they can focus on what they do best: creating amazing experiences.
This is one of the last great frontiers of travel to come online, and as the category leader, we are at the forefront of this change. Last year alone, our platform was trusted by 8,000 organizers to lead over a million travelers on adventures in 150+ countries. Now, we’re on an exciting journey to grow from powering $1B to $10B in travel experiences per year.
We believe that every trip, when done right, can be a force for good - and we’re building the engine to make more of that possible.
What’s the role
As a Senior Software Engineer focused on Developer Experience, you'll help make it fast and easy for WeTravel engineers to build, test, deploy, and operate software.
You'll work on the internal platform and tooling used by our product engineering teams: CI/CD, developer environments, service tooling, deployment workflows, observability, and self-service infrastructure. Our goal is to remove unnecessary complexity from everyday development and provide paved roads that let engineers ship confidently without needing to understand every detail of the underlying infrastructure.
You'll be part of the Platform team, so this isn't a tooling-only role. You'll also contribute to our AWS and Kubernetes infrastructure, reliability, and operational improvements. But your primary customers are our engineers, and your primary focus will be making their development experience better.
What You’ll do day-to-day
Developer Experience & Internal Tooling: Build and improve the tools and workflows engineers use every day. Identify friction in the development lifecycle and turn it into practical tooling, automation, and platform improvements.
CI/CD & Developer Environments: Make it fast and reliable to build, test, and deploy software. Improve CI/CD pipelines, local development environments, test environments, and the path from writing code to running it in production.
Self-Service & Paved Roads: Build reusable workflows, service templates, and platform capabilities that allow product teams to solve common problems without depending on the Platform team. Reduce cognitive load while keeping the underlying systems flexible.
Reliability & Observability: Help engineers understand and operate their services in production. Improve observability, incident response, SLIs/SLOs, and the tooling that makes production issues easier to detect, debug, and resolve.
Infrastructure & Cloud: Contribute to the AWS, Kubernetes, and Terraform foundations behind our platform. Improve scalability, security, cost efficiency, and multi-region readiness while keeping infrastructure easy for product engineers to consume.
How we work
We’re focused on the impact. We don’t subscribe to any one framework or execution ideology, and we adapt based on what’s impactful.
We’re using the latest hardware and constantly on the look out for better tools & ways to work
Stack: We’re using React/ReactNative/TypeScript + Ruby on Rails, Go and Python Microservices on Kubernetes. We also use and love MongoDB, MySQL, Postgres, Snowflake and we’re working with the major LLM providers.
You should apply if you have

Strong software engineering skills and experience building tools, services, automation, or platforms used by other engineers.
Deep experience with CI/CD, containers, Kubernetes, cloud infrastructure, and Infrastructure-as-Code such as Terraform.
A track record of identifying developer pain points and turning them into pragmatic tooling, automation, and self-service platform capabilities.
