Staff Platform Engineer

Accountabilities

• Lead major platform engineering initiatives, starting with Continuous Delivery, from technical design and architecture reviews through implementation, deployment, and continuous improvement.

• Deliver early improvements to developer productivity by strengthening CI reliability, optimizing merge workflows, automating deployments, and improving local development environments.

• Drive architectural decisions across engineering teams, preparing technical proposals, leading design reviews, and ensuring successful implementation of platform-wide solutions.

• Own and evolve cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, developer environments, observability systems, and operational tooling to support a scalable engineering organization.

• Build the next generation of developer infrastructure through automation, self-service tooling, and reusable abstractions that reduce friction for engineers and increasingly autonomous AI agents.

• Improve software delivery speed, deployment frequency, and operational reliability through continuous optimization of testing infrastructure and deployment workflows.

• Strengthen production reliability by implementing effective monitoring, alerting, incident response practices, and long-term solutions to recurring operational issues.

• Collaborate with distributed Platform and Engineering teams, sharing responsibility for production support, on-call coverage, and incident management during Americas business hours.

• Lead broader engineering initiatives, including infrastructure standards, architecture governance, technical documentation, and organization-wide reliability practices.

• Promote engineering excellence by mentoring peers, influencing technical standards, and fostering a culture of ownership, automation, collaboration, and continuous learning.

Requirements:

• Extensive experience in software engineering at Staff Engineer or equivalent level, with a proven track record of leading complex, cross-functional technical initiatives as a hands-on individual contributor.

• Strong technical leadership capabilities, including experience influencing architectural decisions, improving engineering practices, and collaborating with engineering leadership to establish technical standards.

• Demonstrated expertise in designing, building, and operating production cloud infrastructure, particularly on AWS, including ECS/Fargate, RDS, or equivalent services.

• Solid experience with containerization technologies and Infrastructure as Code tools, particularly Terraform or Terragrunt.

• Proven expertise in Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery, with experience improving CI/CD pipelines, testing infrastructure, and deployment processes to achieve measurable gains in speed, frequency, and reliability.

• Strong developer platform mindset, with experience building self-service tools, scalable developer environments, and internal platforms that improve the engineering experience.

• Understanding of how to design developer infrastructure that supports automation and increasingly autonomous AI-driven software development workflows.

• Experience designing and operating observable production systems using Datadog or equivalent monitoring and observability platforms.

• Strong troubleshooting and incident management skills, with the ability to diagnose complex production issues, improve system resilience, and implement sustainable solutions.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence technical decisions across distributed teams and take ownership of initiatives from conception to delivery.

• A proactive, hands-on approach to engineering, with a strong preference for building and implementing solutions rather than limiting involvement to advisory work or ticket management.

Benefits:

• Competitive salary package.

• Fully remote working arrangement, offering flexibility and autonomy.

• Opportunity to join an established Continuous Delivery initiative with strong organizational support and clear priorities.

• A solid technical foundation, including established Datadog observability and existing deployment workflows, allowing you to focus on meaningful improvements rather than building everything from scratch.

• Collaboration with an experienced, distributed Platform team, including dedicated engineering support across European and American time zones.

• Significant technical ownership and influence over infrastructure strategy, architectural decisions, and developer platform evolution.

• Opportunity to shape modern engineering environments that increasingly integrate automation and AI-powered development workflows.

• High-impact work within a growing organization, where your contributions can directly improve engineering productivity and operational performance.

• Inclusive and collaborative working culture built around ownership, continuous learning, simplicity, and thoughtful execution.

• Opportunity to contribute to a meaningful mission focused on helping independent business owners build and grow sustainable businesses.

• An environment that values diverse backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives, with accommodations available throughout the recruitment process.
