Ontic, a leading licensor and manufacturer of complex engineering parts for the global aerospace and defence industries, are now recruiting for a Supplier Quality Engineer to join our Quality & Assurance team where you’ll play a key part in ensuring our global supply chain consistently meets the highest aerospace standards.
The position is based at our Bishops Cleeve site in Gloucestershire but is a field-based role with up to 80% travel to supplier sites, where you’ll help strengthen supplier capability, improve processes, and promote a culture of continuous improvement across the supply chain.

The Role
This is a great opportunity for a Supplier Quality Engineer as you will be responsible for ensuring that external suppliers consistently meet aerospace industry standards and the company’s Supplier Quality Assurance requirements (SQAR). You will be essential to maintaining a compliant, high performing supply chain, supporting production operations, and driving continuous improvement in supplier performance.
The core responsibilities of this role will combine:
Supplier Audits & Compliance, Supplier Quality Issue Management and Supplier Improvement activities. Also providing great opportunity to work closely with internal Production, Engineering, Supply Chain, Programmes, and Quality teams to ensure alignment of supplier activities with operational requirements.
Essentially you will be communicating risks, concerns, and progressing updates effectively to stakeholders at all levels. Adhering to legislation including but not restricted to; HSE, civil/military aviation, rail, marine, data protection, cyber security, and always ensure compliance with local policies and procedures. As Supplier Quality Engineer you will carry out other duties that support the business and ensure our targets are met safely and efficiently.
About You
Essential the role is a full Driving Licence, Level 4/5 UK qualification (e.g., Aerospace, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Quality) or equivalent technical experience. plus established knowledge of manufacturing processes. Flexibility to work outside core hours when required to meet business priorities with a willingness to travel up to 80%, including international travel.
Nice to have:
Strong understanding of aerospace standards and regulations (AS9100 series, EASA Part 21G and Part 145, ISO27001, NADCAP, etc.).
Hands‑on experience in supplier quality, auditing, manufacturing, or compliance within aerospace or another regulated industry, Solid expertise in root cause analysis and problem‑solving methodologies. Certified Lead Auditor (e.g., AS9100 Lead Auditor).
Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as (e.g., assembly, casting, electronics, heat treatment, inspection, machining, NDT, welding, coatings). Proficiency with engineering statistical tools (SPC, Pareto analysis, DPMO/PPM, etc.). Effective and accurate use of MS Office applications and ERP systems.
