SUPPLY CHAIN DATA MANAGER

The Supply Chain Data Manager owns the integrity, consistency, and traceability of material item identity as it moves through four systems that were never designed to share a common language: estimating takeoffs, BIM/VDC modeling, procurement, and field/warehouse inventory. This role does not perform estimating, modeling, purchasing, or logistics work itself. The role is to govern the data that connects those functions, ensuring a single physical item is recognized as the same item at every stage of its lifecycle, from bid to receipt. 

The role operates on standing weekly governance cadence with each partner group, with one event-triggered exception tied to submittal approval(s). Success is measured by the elimination of duplicate or orphaned part numbers, early detection of estimating-to-model discrepancies, and accurate manufacturer-constraint enforcement at receiving. 

Responsibilities  

• Estimating: Item Database Alignment 

• Partner with the VPs of Estimating on a fixed weekly cadence to map newly introduced part numbers to the master item database and job specific temporary items. 

• Review each proposed new item against the existing database to identify true duplicates before accepting it as net-new. 

• Classify each new item as Engineered or Commodity per the established materials framework. 

• Ensure new items get added in our Modeling and Procurement database systems as well. 

• Log each weekly session regardless of volume. Weeks with no new items are documented as “no additions,” not skipped, to preserve audit trail integrity. 

• Modeling: Estimating-to-Model Reconciliation 

• Partner with Nox Tech Support on a fixed weekly cadence to reconcile new BIM/VDC model items against the estimating item database and maintain the estimating-to-model crosswalk. 

• Reconcile new model families/items against the Estimating and Procurement database systems. 

• Escalate unclear or inconsistent modeled items to Design Managers when a modeling teammate cannot provide clarity; correction authority stays with Design Managers, not the individual modeler. 

• Submittal Gate: Manufacturer or Part Number Constraint 

• Partner with Preconstruction and Project Managers upon submittal approval, determine whether the item remains Generic, or whether a Constrained List (approved manufacturers) or Sole-Source designation must be attached to the project-item record. 

• Ensure the constraint is recorded before the first purchase order for that item is issued. 

• Procurement:  

• Partner with Purchasing Managers and their agents on a fixed weekly cadence to resolve “as-entered” purchase order items not found in the existing database, matching them to governed items or formally adding them as new items. 

• Audit manufacturer constraints on Constrained List or Sole-Source items are honored at purchase order issuance. 

• Ensure new items get added in our Estimating and Modeling database systems as well. 

• Match as-entered items back to an existing governed item where applicable, or formally add them as new items and cascade updates in our Estimating and Modeling database systems. 

• Inventory: Database and Physical Stock Integrity 

• Partner with Site Logistics Managers on a fixed weekly cadence to reconcile jobsite and regional warehouse inventory against the item database. 

• Confirm received material ties back to a governed item number rather than a site-invented label or unmanaged vendor SKU alias. 

• Verify the manufacturer/brand of received material against the approved list for any Constrained List or Sole-Source item before it is accepted into inventory. 

• Investigate and resolve inventory variances tied to item identity, distinct from simple quantity discrepancies. 

 

Qualifications  

• 3+ years of experience in construction estimating, procurement, project controls, or materials/inventory management, preferably in industrial or electrical construction. 

• Demonstrated experience working across multiple software systems and reconciling data between them (e.g., estimating software such as Accubid, BIM/VDC platforms, and procurement platforms such as Kojo). 

• Strong attention to detail with a demonstrated ability to identify discrepancies in structured data sets. 

• Ability to run a disciplined recurring meeting cadence across multiple stakeholder groups without allowing scope creep or drift into ad-hoc handling. 

• Comfortable reading and interpreting project specifications sufficiently to recognize manufacturer constraints and submittal requirements. 

• Prior exposure to master data management, item master governance, or ERP data structures preferred. 

• Experience with data center, semiconductor, or other large-scale industrial construction projects involving high material volume and manufacturer-restricted specifications preferred. 

• Data Governance Discipline and ability to maintain weekly cadence structure without exception; documents null results rather than skipping them. 

• Cross-Functional Reconciliation with being able to work fluently across estimating, VDC/modeling, purchasing, and logistics without owning execution in any of them. 

• Attention to Specification Detail and the ability to distinguish generic, constrained, or sole-source requirements accurately from spec and submittal language. 

• Escalation Judgment with routing issues to the correct authority rather than resolving outside scope. 

 

Education & Certifications 

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field preferred; equivalent industry experience considered in lieu of degree.
