This role offers an opportunity to shape and improve engineering software used in the design of metal building systems. You will translate technical requirements into practical software enhancements that streamline engineering workflows, improve productivity, and support operational efficiency. Working closely with engineering specialists, developers, IT teams, drafting professionals, and manufacturing stakeholders, you will help bridge the gap between software capabilities and real-world engineering needs. You will also contribute to user acceptance testing, system validation, and continuous improvement initiatives. This position combines systems engineering, software development, and structural design knowledge in a collaborative, deadline-driven environment. Your work will help reduce lead times, optimize costs, and ultimately improve customer satisfaction.
As a Systems Engineer I, you will support the development, integration, and maintenance of engineering software while ensuring that system enhancements meet technical and business requirements. Your responsibilities will include:
Develop and implement technical solutions within the metal building design system to expand existing capabilities and introduce new features.
Analyze engineering workflows to identify opportunities for automation, improve the user experience, and increase software efficiency.
Collaborate with subject matter experts to translate engineering requirements into practical software functionalities and technical specifications.
Participate in cross-functional projects to integrate engineering software with enterprise systems and other technical tools.
Serve as a liaison between end-users and developers, communicating system needs, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
Coordinate with Technical Services, IT, Design, Drafting, Manufacturing, and Engineering teams to ensure software solutions align with operational requirements.
Design, execute, and document user acceptance tests and other testing procedures for new features, bug fixes, and system updates.
Record test cases, results, defects, and identified issues to support system validation and continuous improvement.
Maintain technical documentation covering software design decisions, codebase structure, requirements, and change history.
Provide technical feedback on proposed engineering changes, system developments, and opportunities to modernize existing platforms.
Contribute to the maintenance and improvement of legacy systems while supporting reliable, scalable engineering software.
