Tech class engineer II

Join ING as a Backend Engineer (Java) and help build secure, high-impact digital solutions in the Business Lending domain. The team

You will be part of a multidisciplinary team focused on developing web applications within the Business Lending domain. The team works on solving fundamental, high-impact challenges in financial services, contributing to a safer and more compliant banking environment.

Collaboration is at the core of the team culture, working closely with Customer Journey Experts and Product Owners to deliver solutions with real business value. The team embraces agile ways of working, continuous learning, and knowledge sharing.

Roles and responsibilities

As a Backend Engineer, you will design and deliver high-quality backend solutions that drive business value. Your day-to-day activities will include:

• Developing cloud-native microservices using Java (21+) and Spring Boot

• Designing and implementing scalable backend systems and APIs

• Contributing to architectural decisions and technology selection

• Building automated unit, integration, and regression tests

• Collaborating with stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions

• Ensuring software security and minimizing IT risk through timely updates

• Promoting team collaboration and continuous learning
