Ashland. is looking for an energetic self-motivated Technical Service Manager – Personal Care – SEA / ANZ for driving the personal care lab operations by providing technical sale support, laboratory testing and formulating personal care ingredients products (thickeners, polymer, biofunctional active, preservatives) in haircare, skincare, suncare, oral care, homecare applications for technical research group, sales and marketing at Ashland (Thailand) co., Ltd. Bangkok, Thailand. This position will report to Global Senior R&D Director – Personal Care.

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

• following good lab practices, complying with all company policies & procedures with a specific focus on safety
• screening raw materials in formulations and generating technical data to support strategy and business growth. Formulating and creating new prototypes to support customer projects and concepts
• understanding the competitive landscape and identifying customer need gaps to help develop the next generation of cosmetic formulations
• creation and proper maintenance of technical product documentation and records, e.g. MSDS, specification sheets, COAs
• supporting sales and distributor team training with prototype demos and presentations
• participating in technical conferences, fairs and sharing knowledge and insights internally and with customers.
• Handling day-to-day maintenance of laboratory equipment, housekeeping of the laboratory
• Actively contribute to the organizational goals by taking initiative, executing on goals and focusing on performance and safety
• Improve the organization capacity and capabilities through building collaborative relationships, optimizing diverse talent and utilizing positive communications and influence with others

In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:

• minimum master’s degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, cosmetic science/related degree (10 years’ experience) or bachelor’s degree with min. relevant 13-year experience
• 10+ years’ experience in personal care R&D and/or related fields is preferable.
• willingness for occasional travel (30%)
• Demonstrated responsible and ethical behavior at all times
• The ability to help the company drive greater value through understanding the business, making complex decisions and creating the new and different

The following skill sets are preferred by the business unit:

• ability to work independently with proactive working style and quick perception
• result oriented with strong passion in solving
• Professional in English language skill (scientific writing and spoken).
• Be familiar with image analysis software, statistical software
• Experience in handling analytical instruments in the areas of rheology, texture analysis, microscopy and sensory is preferred
• Able to do analysis test outside location at collaborative university labs/research institute.
• Able to troubleshoot problems and adapt experimental methods to address specific research challenges for customers and give effective recommendations
• Excellent presentation and oral communication skills in English and Thai
