Validation EMC and PCB Simulation Engineer

Context

Description of the Division

NXP develops high-performance mixed-signal technologies for the automotive, industrial, and Internet of Things markets, enabling safer, smarter, and more sustainable electronic systems.

Within the central CTO organization, the EMC/ESD team is responsible for the design, integration, and validation of solutions that ensure the electromagnetic robustness of integrated circuits and electronic systems. The team operates state-of-the-art laboratories dedicated to EMC and ESD testing on semiconductor devices, electronic boards, and embedded systems.

To support the growth of its activities and the development of new design methodologies, the team is looking for a Junior EMC Validation Engineer to strengthen its validation and PCB simulation capabilities.

Job Description

As an EMC Validation and PCB Simulation Engineer, you will contribute to the characterization, validation, and optimization of the electromagnetic performance of NXP products.

You will work closely with design, product development, and validation teams to ensure EMC robustness from the earliest stages of product development.

This position combines hands-on laboratory activities with simulation-based analyses aimed at improving electronic board design and reducing the risk of EMC non-compliance.

Responsibilities

EMC Validation

• Prepare and execute EMC test campaigns on integrated circuits, electronic boards, and embedded systems.
• Perform emission and immunity measurements in accordance with applicable standards.
• Support technical investigations related to EMC failures and non-compliance issues.
• Analyze test results and identify root causes of observed phenomena.
• Prepare technical reports and present findings to project teams.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of validation methodologies and test equipment.

PCB Simulation and EMC-Oriented Design

• Perform electromagnetic simulations on electronic boards to predict and optimize EMC performance.
• Participate in correlation studies between simulation results and laboratory measurements.
• Identify coupling mechanisms and potential sources of emissions or susceptibility.
• Propose PCB design recommendations to improve EMC performance.
• Contribute to the development and enhancement of simulation and validation methodologies.
• Support design teams during schematic and PCB layout reviews.

Experience and technical skills

Education

Master's Degree or Engineering Degree in Electronics, Electromagnetics, Microelectronics, Embedded Systems, or an equivalent field.

Desired Knowledge and Skills

• Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC).
• Analog and digital electronics.
• Instrumentation and measurement techniques.
• Electronic board design.
• PCB CAD tools such as Cadence Allegro or OrCAD.
• PCB simulation tools such as Sigrity, PowerSI, Clarity, or equivalent.
• Scripting or programming experience (Python, MATLAB, or equivalent) is a plus.
