PURPOSE
Lead MGIC's software engineering, and digital delivery functions to ensure technology investments deliver measurable business outcomes, accelerate innovation, improve customer and employee experiences, and support long-term enterprise growth. Serve as a key member of the Information Technology leadership team and a strategic partner to executive leadership, helping shape enterprise technology strategy.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Enterprise Technology & Business Strategy
- Partner with the CIO and business executives to define and execute technology strategies that directly support MGIC's business objectives, growth initiatives, operational priorities, and customer experience goals.
- Translate business strategy into technology roadmaps, investment priorities, and product portfolios that deliver measurable business value.
- Act as a trusted advisor to executive leadership regarding technology opportunities, risks, modernization strategies, architecture decisions, and emerging technologies.
- Lead enterprise-wide digital transformation initiatives and modernization efforts across customer-facing and internal platforms.
Software Engineering Leadership
- Lead all software engineering teams responsible for the design, development, testing, deployment, support, and lifecycle management of MGIC applications and digital products.
- Establish engineering standards, architecture principles, DevOps practices, quality controls, and delivery methodologies that improve speed, reliability, scalability, and security.
- Drive adoption of modern engineering capabilities including cloud-native platforms, automation, APIs, data services, AI-enabled solutions, and continuous delivery practices.
- Ensure engineering teams effectively balance innovation, technical debt reduction, resiliency, operational excellence, and regulatory compliance.
Product Management & Product Delivery
- Establish product operating models that align technology investments with business outcomes and customer needs.
- Oversee product strategy, product roadmaps, prioritization, funding decisions, and portfolio performance across business and technology domains.
- Ensure product teams maintain clear ownership of vision, roadmaps, backlogs, customer value realization, and product performance metrics.
Portfolio & Investment Management
- Partner with the Enterprise Program Office to govern a portfolio of technology products, platforms, and delivery initiatives, ensuring alignment with enterprise priorities and value realization objectives
- Evaluate and prioritize technology investments based on business value, risk, strategic alignment, and return on investment.
- Monitor delivery performance, benefits realization, financial performance, resource utilization, and operational risk across the portfolio.
Business Relationship & Stakeholder Leadership
- Build strong partnerships with executive leaders across all business functions to understand priorities and ensure technology capabilities support business strategies.
- Drive alignment among business leaders, product teams, engineering teams, architecture, security, and operations organizations.
- Communicate technology strategy, roadmap progress, risks, and outcomes to senior leadership and governance committees.
Organizational Leadership & Talent Development
- Lead, coach, and develop high-performing leaders across engineering, quality assurance, and delivery management functions.
- Establish succession plans and leadership development programs that strengthen MGIC's technology leadership pipeline.
- Foster a culture focused on accountability, innovation, collaboration, customer value, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
- Drive the appropriate use of AI to enhance the speed and quality of business solutions.
- Serve as a member of the IT leadership team with broad accountability beyond software delivery
- Participate in enterprise strategic planning, technology governance, risk management, and decision-making processes.
- Build organizational capabilities required to support future growth, modernization, and digital transformation objectives.
- Develop deep understanding of MGIC's business model, financial performance drivers, regulatory environment, and enterprise operating strategy
- Build enterprise-wide credibility and influence across business and technology functions
Vendor, Risk & Financial Management
- Partner with Strategic Vendor Management team to oversee strategic technology vendor relationships, contract negotiations, and partner performance management.
- Ensure applications and platforms comply with security, risk, regulatory, audit, and data governance requirements.
- Develop and manage operating and capital budgets, ensuring effective stewardship of technology investments and achievement of expected business outcomes.
EXPERIENCE / BACKGROUND
- Minimum of 15 years of experience leading teams in IT ensuring technological solutions deliver business priorities and outcomes
- Experience in creating, aligning and executing technological capabilities to company and business priorities
- Expertise in Software Development Life Cycle and agile methodologies
- Strong business acumen and strategic thinking
- Portfolio and demand management
- Ability to build cross-functional partnerships that drive business outcomes
- Strong accountability and ownership of delivering results
FLSA: This position qualifies for the Administrative exemption as the employee is required to exercise discretion and independent judgment in managing projects that have significant impact on interrelated business units and company-wide use of technology tools.

Pay Range:
$209,130.00 - $376,440.00
This range aligns with current market data and reflects our commitment to competitive and equitable compensation. Salary offers are based on factors such as experience, skills, education, and training. The range may vary in certain locations to reflect local market conditions. It is not typical to initiate pay at the top of the range to account for internal equity and allow for future and continued salary growth
