Job Summary
Role Purpose
Candescent is seeking a data-driven Web Strategy Manager to own the performance, structure, and continuous improvement of our website from one of our India office locations. This role sits at the intersection of marketing, design, and technology, translating business goals into a web strategy that drives traffic, conversion, and pipeline.
This is a strategy, prioritisation, and performance role rather than a primarily hands-on build role. You will set the direction and the roadmap, run the experimentation programme, and work through the web development, design, and SEO members of the team to deliver. You will be expected to be technically fluent enough to scope work credibly, review quality, and troubleshoot alongside the team.
This role also acts as a senior point of coordination for the India web team, partnering closely with the US-based Digital Experience lead on priorities, delivery, and stakeholder communication.
Key Responsibilities and Deliverables
What you will be responsible for and what you will do
Web Strategy & Roadmap
- Own the end-to-end web strategy, roadmap, and performance of the company website.
- Translate business and marketing objectives into a prioritised web roadmap, balancing impact, effort, and dependencies.
- Lead cross-functional web projects from scoping through launch, coordinating with design, content, development, and external vendors.
- Manage project timelines, priorities, and delivery expectations, ensuring commitments are met and risks are surfaced early.
Experimentation & Conversion Optimisation
- Design, execute, and analyse A/B and multivariate tests across landing pages, forms, CTAs, and key user flows to improve conversion.
- Build and maintain a testing roadmap prioritised by potential impact and effort, and report results to stakeholders.
- Apply sound experiment design, including hypothesis definition, sample sizing, and statistical significance.
Search Visibility Direction
- Set the direction and priorities for SEO and Answer Engine Optimisation (AEO), working through the SEO Specialist who owns hands-on execution.
- Ensure organic search and AI-driven answer experiences are factored into site structure, content planning, and page launches.
- Hold the team to search best practices across new builds and site changes.
Measurement & Reporting
- Monitor and report on site performance using Google Analytics (GA4), building dashboards and surfacing actionable insight for leadership.
- Establish and track the KPIs that define web performance, including traffic, engagement, conversion, and pipeline contribution.
- Monitor site health including page speed, mobile experience, accessibility, and broken links, and drive resolution.
Collaboration & Ways of Working
- Partner with SEO, content, demand generation, product marketing, and sales teams to align web strategy with broader business objectives.
- Coordinate closely with the US-based Digital Experience lead on priorities, intake, status, escalations, and stakeholder communication.
- Provide direction, review, and quality oversight to the web development, design, and SEO members of the India team.
- Maintain a working schedule with sufficient overlap with US business hours on at least a few days each week to enable live collaboration, reviews, and handoffs.
Experience
Demonstrated skills, competencies, and required experience
- 6–9 years of experience in web strategy, digital marketing, growth marketing, or a related discipline, including experience setting direction rather than only executing.
- Proven, hands-on experience with A/B testing and conversion rate optimisation, including experiment design and interpreting statistical significance.
- Strong working knowledge of SEO fundamentals across technical, on-page, and content, and familiarity with emerging AEO practices.
- Proficiency with Google Analytics (GA4), including custom reports, funnels, and attribution.
- Working knowledge of Webflow, sufficient to scope work, review builds, and troubleshoot with developers.
- Experience with Marketo or a comparable marketing automation platform for forms, landing pages, and lead flow.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to run multiple concurrent projects and keep cross-functional teams on track.
- Experience guiding, reviewing, or coordinating the work of other specialists such as developers, designers, or analysts.
- Excellent analytical skills and the ability to turn data into clear recommendations, with strong written and verbal communication.
Qualifications & Preferred Distinctions
Additional accomplishments
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, Computer Science, or a related field; equivalent professional experience will be considered.
- Experience with testing and optimisation platforms such as Optimizely or VWO is preferred.
- Basic HTML and CSS knowledge for troubleshooting Webflow builds is preferred.
- Familiarity with project management tools such as Smartsheet, Jira, or Asana is a plus.
- Experience supporting financial services, technology, B2B, SaaS, or enterprise software brands is preferred.
- Experience collaborating across geographies and time zones is helpful.
What Success Looks Like
- A prioritised, consistently executed testing roadmap that improves key conversion metrics quarter over quarter.
- Measurable growth in organic search traffic and visibility, including AI-driven search surfaces.
- A well-maintained, fast, and reliable website with minimal downtime or technical debt.
- Web projects delivered on time, with clear scope and predictable quality.
- Clear, regular reporting that informs marketing and business decisions.
- The India web team operates with clear priorities and consistent standards.
What Will Make You Successful
- Comfort making prioritisation calls and defending them with data.
- Technical fluency sufficient to earn credibility with developers and designers.
- Strong attention to detail and a high standard of craft and quality.
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and shifting priorities without losing momentum.
- Clear, proactive communication with stakeholders across geographies and time zones.
- A collaborative, low-ego working style and a genuine willingness to give and receive feedback.
Strong organisation, follow-through, and accountability in a global, fast-paced environment.
