Supporting women in field sales in the energy industry:
At Octopus Energy, we’re on a mission to make energy fair, clean, and simple for all using technology. To get there, we need brilliant people with different backgrounds, experiences and perspectives helping us change the industry.
Women account for 49% of full time employees in UK sales and customer focused jobs, yet they remain underrepresented in many commercial and field based roles. In field sales roles women only make up around 40% of roles in the UK and 29% in senior commercial roles, which is about 1 in 4 roles. We want to help change that by creating a field sales environment where women can build confidence, grow their careers and progress into leadership.
We’re looking for incredible women across the UK to join our team as Venue Sales Representatives. Forget traditional field sales! We’re reinventing customer interactions and showing people that talking about energy can be engaging, helpful and fun!
You’ll be one of the friendly faces of Octopus Energy, meeting customers in well known venues across the UK. You’ll start genuine conversations, explain what makes Octopus different and help people make energy choices that work for them and the planet.
You don't need to know everything about energy or sales. We’ll give you the training, support and tools you need to thrive. Previous sales experience would be a real advantage, but we’d also love to hear from people with strong customer focused experience and a natural ability to connect with others. This is not about tradtional sales or scripts. It’s about listening, connecting with people and bringing your personality to work
Who we are:
We're making energy fair, clean, and simple for all using technology. Powering over 10 million homes in Britain and abroad with award winning customer service and innovative green energy offers, while building a more sustainable energy system for tomorrow. We empower our people to give outrageously good customer service, and fight to make energy fairer, more affordable, and more accessible for all. We are striving to halt the climate emergency by unlocking a smart, 100% green grid. We are using technology to transform the energy system; making electricity green and affordable, creating one-of-a-kind energy innovations.
Our work is powered by freedom, autonomy and responsibility. We won best company to work for in 2022 on Glassdoor and were voted as one of the best places to work in 2026 from the Sunday Times. Our Group CEO, Greg, has recorded a podcast about our culture and how we empower our people - give it a listen to find out more about Octopus Energy!

What you'll do...
-
As a Venue Sales Representative, you will directly engage with customers on a face to face basis, to promote our energy tariffs and low carbon technologies, such as solar panels, heat pumps and electric vehicles.
-
Our Energy Helpers help introduce these local communities to Octopus Energy as a preferred potential supplier by comparing service and products with other energy companies. This helps potential customers make an informed choice on whether they’d benefit from switching to us for their energy supply at their homes.
-
Your role will be to make every conversation count, delivering outstanding customer service while creating a welcoming and positive experience for every new customer you bring on board.
What you'll need...

While sales experience is preferred don't let it put you off if you don't have any, we will help you with that! But if you enjoy talking to people, building relationships and helping customers, we’d love to hear from you.

-
Experience in a customer centric setting where you have come up with quick and effective customer solutions

-
A driving license in order to travel to all our different venues situated across the locations

Are you ready for a career with us? We want to ensure you have all the tools and environment you need to unleash your potential. Need any specific accommodations? Whether you require specific accommodations or have a unique preference, let us know, and we'll do what we can to customise your interview process for comfort and maximum magic!
Studies have shown that some groups of people, like women, are less likely to apply to a role unless they meet 100% of the job requirements. Whoever you are, if you like one of our jobs, we encourage you to apply as you might just be the candidate we hire. Across Octopus, we're looking for genuinely decent people who are honest and empathetic. Our people are our strongest asset and the unique skills and perspectives people bring to the team are the driving force of our success. As an equal opportunity employer, we do not discriminate on the basis of any protected attribute. Our commitment is to provide equal opportunities, an inclusive work environment, and fairness for everyone.
Where necessary, we sometimes use AI tools to help with parts of our hiring process, like reviewing applications or assessing responses. We’re lucky to receive a huge amount of interest, so these tools help our recruiters manage that volume, not replace them. Ultimately, every hiring decision (for example, whether to progress your application or not) is always made by a real person in our Talent team. If you’d like to know more about how we use your data, you can reach out to us via email at talent@octoenergy.com. We’re happy to help!
Why else you'll love it here
• Wondering what the salary for this role is? Just ask us! On a call with one of our recruiters it's something we always cover as we genuinely want to match your experience with the correct salary. The reason why we don't advertise is because we honestly have a degree of flexibility and would never want salary to be a reason why someone doesn't apply to Octopus - what's more important to us is finding the right octofit!
If this sounds like you then we'd love to hear from you, tell us what you care about, why Octopus feels right and most importantly, bring us the real you! Applying for jobs can be a bit scary so have a nose through some of our tips first 🚀
P.S. Our process usually takes up to 4 weeks, but we’ll always do our best to flex around what works for you. Along the way, you’ll chat with our recruitment team and your Recruiter will help you throughout different stages. Got any burning questions before then? Drop us a message at talent@octoenergy.com and we’d love to help!
