Roles and Responsibilities:
Microservices Development: Design, develop, and maintain microservices using Java 17+ (with Java 21 LTS) and Spring Boot 3.3.x including Spring Cloud 2023.x for microservices patterns. End-to-end integration experience of microservices with frontend systems using RESTful APIs and event-driven architecture
Database Management: Develop and maintain databases using MySQL 8.x, PostgreSQL 15+, and Redis 7.x for caching and session management, optimizing for performance, reliability, and implementing database migrations using Liquibase or Flyway
API Development: Create and document RESTful APIs using OpenAPI/Swagger specifications for seamless integration with frontend applications and third-party services. Experience with API Gateway (Spring Cloud Gateway or Kong) , GraphQL is a plus
Feature Release: Collaborate with product teams and business stakeholders to gather requirements, translate business requirements into technical solutions, and implement new features following Domain Driven Design (DDD) principles, ensuring timely and successful releases
Bug Fixing: Troubleshoot and resolve bugs in a timely manner using Test Driven Development (TDD) approach, maintaining high standards of code quality and performance through comprehensive unit and integration testing
Application Updates: Regularly update applications implementing new features, addressing bugs, enhancing system performance, and following secure coding practices (OWASP Top 10 compliance) with production-quality code
Upgrade Management: Manage upgrades of Spring Boot, backend databases, and cloud platform dependencies ensuring compatibility, improved performance, and maintaining zero-trust security architecture
Production Support: Work with operations team to monitor and troubleshoot production issues using observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack/Splunk, Jaeger/Zipkin), participate in on-call rotations and conduct post-mortem analysis
Deployment Automation: Deploy microservices using CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions), containerize applications with Docker, and orchestrate with Kubernetes (deployments, services, ingress, ConfigMaps)
Performance Monitoring: Utilize monitoring tools (Micrometer, Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry) to analyze system performance, implement distributed tracing, and conduct performance testing using JMeter or Gatling based on metrics and feedback
Requirements:
Degree in Computing / Computer Science / Engineering preferred BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related subject with strong foundation in algorithms, data structures, and system design
4 to 6 years of experience in backend development using Java and Spring Boot
Proficient in Java 17+ features (records, sealed classes, pattern matching, virtual threads) with deep understanding of JVM internals, garbage collection, and performance tuning
Hands-on experience with Spring Boot 3.x, Spring Framework 6.x, Spring Cloud, Spring Data JPA, Spring Security, and Spring WebFlux (reactive programming)
Proficient in developing RESTful APIs, Microservices architecture patterns (API Gateway, Service Discovery, Circuit Breaker, CQRS, Event Sourcing)
Experience with messaging and event streaming platforms (Apache Kafka 3.x, RabbitMQ, or AWS SQS/SNS) and event-driven architecture patterns
Knowledge of CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions), containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Helm, CloudFormation)
Experience with MySQL 8.x, PostgreSQL 15+, or similar relational databases. NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Cassandra, DynamoDB) knowledge is a plus
Cloud platform experience (AWS, Azure, GCP, or Pivotal/VMware Tanzu)
Strong understanding of microservices architecture, design principles, and Domain Driven Design (DDD)
Proficient in unit testing (JUnit 5, Mockito, AssertJ), integration testing (Testcontainers, Spring Boot Test), and Test Driven Development (TDD)
Experience with OAuth 2.0/OpenID Connect (OIDC), JWT token handling, and API security best practices
Familiarity with production support, observability tools, troubleshooting, and incident management
Strong problem-solving skills, excellent communication and collaboration abilities, and continuous learning mindset
