Do you want a career that means more? At Anglicare Sydney, we bring the strength, the support and the strategy to make it happen.
We’re a well-respected not-for-profit that’s been serving people in need for over 170 years. Our vision is simple yet powerful: Jesus Christ honoured, lives enriched and communities strengthened.
As our Chaplain at Elizabeth Lodge, you’ll provide Christ-centred spiritual leadership and pastoral care to residents, their families and our dedicated staff.
Based within our residential care home in Rushcutters Bay, you’ll have the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with older people, walk alongside residents through changing seasons of life and provide spiritual hope and support, including to people living with dementia and those receiving end-of-life care.
You’ll join a compassionate, purpose-driven community where your ministry can make a profound difference in people’s lives.
Chaplaincy is a vital part of Anglicare’s ministry and an expression of our commitment to provide holistic care that recognises the spiritual, emotional and physical needs of each person.
Working onsite alongside our Pastoral Carers and as part of the broader multidisciplinary care team, you’ll lead the chaplaincy ministry within Elizabeth Lodge.
At the heart of the role is relationship. You’ll spend time getting to know residents individually, understanding their spiritual needs and preferences and providing pastoral care that responds to where they are in life.
You’ll also provide opportunities for residents to engage with the Christian faith through individual pastoral conversations, Bible teaching, prayer, chapel services and other expressions of Christian ministry.
You’re a warm, relational and mature Christian leader with a genuine heart for older people.
Your ministry is grounded in a strong and active Christian faith, and you’re able to communicate the hope of the gospel with sensitivity, wisdom and compassion.
You understand that effective pastoral ministry begins with relationships. You listen well, build trust and can walk alongside people experiencing grief, loss, declining health, dementia and end-of-life circumstances.
You’re also comfortable working as part of a multidisciplinary environment, maintaining professional boundaries and confidentiality while building strong relationships with residents, families and staff.
You’ll also need appropriate computer skills, a current valid driver’s licence and access to your own vehicle.
Before commencing with Anglicare, you’ll need to satisfy the relevant pre-employment requirements for the role, including required probity, qualification and referee checks.
We provide meaningful opportunities and choice, both for the individuals and communities we support and the dedicated people here who make it happen.
At Anglicare, you’ll have the opportunity to exercise meaningful Christian ministry within a well-established organisation committed to honouring Jesus Christ and enriching the lives of the people we serve.
You’ll be supported by an established Chaplaincy structure and a community of people who understand the unique opportunities and challenges of pastoral ministry in residential aged care.
On top of that, here are just some of the tangible benefits you will enjoy in a career with us:
We’re many services, with one purpose – to meet people where they are and walk with them. At Anglicare, we believe everyone is Made for Connection – with God, with each other and with the places we call home.
As Chaplain, you’ll bring that purpose to life through your presence and ministry – building relationships, providing comfort and care, sharing the hope of Jesus and walking alongside residents and families through some of life’s most significant moments.
