Enabler for smaller, more powerful, and more energy-efficient microchips
Working for tomorrow today.
Around 80 percent of all microchips worldwide are produced using ZEISS technologies. As the centerpiece of every electronically controlled system, they have become an integral part of our everyday lives – whether in smartphones, smart homes or smart factories. ZEISS is a technology leader in the field of semiconductor manufacturing equipment. With high-precision lithography optics, photomask systems and process control solutions, ZEISS enables the production of ever smaller, increasingly powerful, and more energy-efficient microchips, and thus plays a pivotal role in the age of micro- and nanoelectronics.
Do you want to push the boundaries of what is technically feasible with code and explore the limits of what is physically possible? Then you’re exactly right with us. As part of our interdisciplinary team, you’ll work on the optical systems of the next generation in semiconductor lithography technology that literally forms the foundation of modern digitization.
You develop and use software for design, simulation, and optimization of ultra-precise optical systems
You act as the interface between different disciplines mechanics, electronics, and optics design
translate complex, interdisciplinary requirements (e.g., thermal effects, packaging constraints, compute time or resources) into robust simulation models and software solutions.
Completed Master’s degree in STEM or a PhD (e.g., Computational Physics/Math, Physics, Simulation Technology, Computer Science or related fields)
Professional experience in academia or industry (e.g., as a Postdoc) is a plus, but not required
Very strong skills in scientific programming, preferably Python, Julia, Matlab, C — the specific tool is secondary, the mindset counts
Experience with version control (e.g., git, svn, GitHub, Azure DevOps) and interest in sustainable software development (Clean Code, TDD, CI)
Experience with AI methods (e.g., for optimization or data analysis) is welcome but not required
Communication strength: you can explain complex technical concepts to colleagues from other fields
Enjoyment of self-motivated, structured work and learning in an interdisciplinary team
