### **Join Us, and Ship Robots**
Weave was founded to build the robots we’d want to have in our own home. We believe the next generation of robotics will transform everyday life by enabling people to do more and to reclaim time to spend on what’s important.
We also believe robots are in a sense like any other product: to matter, they have to ship. Our robots are already operating in real homes and businesses, giving us the opportunity to rapidly improve from real-world experience. With a growing team, strong customer demand, and capital for expansion, we’re entering an exciting stage of growth—and we’re looking for people with exceptional talent and standards to help bring home robotics to millions of households.
### **The Role**
As a Power Electrical Engineer at Weave, you’ll design the electrical systems that safely and efficiently distribute energy throughout the robot, from battery management and power conversion to motor power delivery and system protection. Working closely with embedded, controls, mechanical, and robotics engineers, you’ll develop robust power architectures that enable increasingly capable robots while balancing efficiency, reliability, and thermal performance. As part of a vertically integrated robotics company, you’ll have the opportunity to influence everything from component selection and PCB design through firmware integration and field validation.
### **Responsibilities**
- **Design power systems:** Develop battery management, power distribution, DC/DC conversion, charging, and protection circuitry for robotic platforms.
- **Own board development:** Design schematics, perform PCB layout reviews, and support bring-up, validation, and production of custom electronics.
- **Optimize efficiency:** Improve power delivery, thermal performance, EMI/EMC, and system efficiency across the robot.
- **Validate hardware:** Develop automated validation plans and characterize power electronics across operating conditions and environmental extremes.
- **Collaborate across disciplines:** Partner with embedded, controls, mechanical, and manufacturing teams to integrate reliable power systems into production robots.
- **Support production:** Drive DFM/DFT improvements, component selection, and manufacturing bring-up for production hardware.
### **What You'll Bring**
- **Power electronics expertise:** 3+ years designing power electronics for robotics, consumer electronics, automotive, aerospace, or similar products.
- **Power architecture:** Strong understanding of battery systems, power distribution, power integrity, protection circuits, and system-level power design.
- **PCB design experience:** Experience designing complex multilayer PCBs using Altium Designer or similar ECAD tools, from schematic capture through layout review.
- **Safety as a design input:** Worst-case fault analysis, layered protection, and fail-safe failure modes, designed in from the start for a battery-powered product in people's homes.
- **HW validation knowledge:** Hands-on experience bringing up and debugging hardware using oscilloscopes, power analyzers, electronic loads, and logic analyzers.
- **Production hardware:** Deep familiarity with EMI/EMC, thermal design, reliability, and DFM/DFT.
- **Cross-functional collaboration:** Comfortable working closely with embedded, controls, mechanical, and manufacturing engineers to integrate robust hardware into production robots.
### **Nice to Have**
- Experience with Lithium based battery chemistry.
- Experience taking systems through EMC compliance.
