Job Description Summary: Engineering Manager
This position is expected to successfully lead a team to drive regional and local goals on product design, localization, and sustaining engineering. This position is based in Ningbo China and reports to China Operations Director.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Leads Ningbo engineering team to closely work with marketing, sales, production, quality, and sourcing teams for new product development from design, validation to mass production.
- Takes lead on design and its optimization of product with short time-to-market at competitive cost.
- Ensures design quality by complying the procedures in all design and development activities and using critical six-sigma tools like VOC, DOE, DFX, with sharp mind-set of six-sigma design or concurrent engineering.
- Coaches the team in efficient and effective way/methodology and motivates the team to achieve high performance.
- Supports the organization’s intellectual property strategy by documenting data and independent, unique, and patentable ideas that result from experimentations and concept generation activities.
- Ensures quality in a product’s design for usability, reliability, functionality, marketability, and manufacturability.
- Leads the team to integrate products and optimize product categories;
- Keeps abreast of latest product developments with the organizational product development trend, and translating those developments into new and viable options for the organization and customers etc.
- Applies Design to Cost and Design for Manufacturability methods to achieve project objectives.
- Ensures proper design and development documentation.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor or above, majored in mechanical engineering, or HVAC, Master degree preferred
MANAGEMENT:
Whole engineering team, around 10+ ppl
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 10+ years working experience and strong background on design and development of mechanical products (intelligence control products experience is a strong plus, at least similar project management experience)
- 5+ years of leading a team of engineers and manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders
- Good oral and written English (working language is English with major stakeholders overseas)
- Strong communication and project management skills;
- Capability of building a strong team, organizational change and talent development;
- Capability of solving problems which are complex and require extensive investigation and analysis;
- Ability to influence others to accept practices and approaches, and ability to communicate and influence executive leadership.
