About us:

Airbus is a forward thinking, high-flying and dynamic business, paving the way for the future of the aerospace industry. We are a driving force for innovation, working towards achieving a sustainable future. When you join the Airbus Finance Internship Scheme we recognise the importance of supporting high-achieving and talented undergraduates. We do this through offering challenging internship opportunities during which your skills and potential are fully maximised.

The Internship scheme within Finance at Airbus will provide you with a fantastic start to your career. The internship will give you the opportunity to gain hands-on financial experience within a manufacturing industry as well as develop professional behavioural skills such as leadership, organisational, presentation and communication skills. You will also be given an insight into working in a challenging, fast-paced environment with real responsibilities. As an intern you are treated as a full employee and given as much support as you may need to ensure that the transition from university to working life is smooth.

At Airbus there is a solid mix of youth and experience, with a large number of interns, graduates and apprentices on-site as well as well-experienced professionals to help guide your career from both a technical and behavioural perspective, to ensure you develop as fully as possible during your time with us and maximise your potential. You are able to build a wide network made up of people with a range of experience levels and who work in all different areas of the business.

There is the opportunity to get involved in activities outside of your role such as organising charity events, Generation Airbus and local team social events, showing the local community around the site and leading your own projects.

Airbus encourages a healthy work life balance through flexi-time and a Friday half-day, ensuring positive wellbeing. There is also the potential to be fast-tracked onto the Finance Graduate Scheme, dependent on strong, exceptional internship performance. This will give you the chance to join the Airbus family long term, living and working around Europe in numerous placements whilst studying for your Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA).

What you will be doing:

In Broughton, Airbus is responsible for manufacturing wings that are then transported to the Final Assembly Lines around Europe. Therefore the Finance team in Broughton is responsible for preparing budgets, cost reports and forecasts for each wing type, to support the wing production in Broughton. As a member of the team, you are able to see the wings in production around the factory and see the Beluga flying in and out several times a day to transport wings which is an amazing sight!

During your internship in Broughton, some of the activities you may be involved in include:

• Financial reporting: preparing reports to look at actual costs and revenues in the month;
• Updating forecast models;
• Liaising with the Finance community and the Business Operations teams - key stakeholder management skills;
• Supporting projects aimed at continuous improvement to make the business more efficient/sustainable;
• Labour efficiency and effectivity analysis & reporting;
• Posting monthly accruals and journals;
• Risk and Opportunity reporting;
• Engagement in team building activities, assisting in Charity Challenge and helping to organise team events as required.

During your internship you will gain an insight into how a large, multinational company works and how your role connects to the overall strategy of the company. You’ll gain excellent working experience of financial concepts such as reporting, forecasting and budgeting. You will also quickly strengthen your softer skills and personal self-development such as organisational skills, leadership, autonomy, proactivity and team working. Airbus challenges you as much as possible for you to realise your full potential and to grow significantly over the internship.
