The Head of Value Chain & AI Business, Ventures leads the architecture of Venture value chains and the development of human-in-command AI and agentic ways of working where they help Ventures move faster.
The role helps Ventures progress from opportunity to validation, partner onboarding, launch readiness, and scale-up by defining how partners, Philips capabilities, expert functions, data sources, and AI-enabled workflows work
together.
This role combines value-chain architecture, partner collaboration, structured problem solving, Philips process fluency, and hands-on AI/digital capability. It works closely with Operations & Technology, Marketing & Proposition,
I&D/R&D, Design, Digital/Data, Procurement, Commodity, Quality/Regulatory, Legal/IP, Privacy/Security, Finance, and external partners. It does not replace those functional accountabilities.
It creates the value chain, partner-collaboration, and AI workflow layer that enables Ventures to move at speed while keeping Philips brand, quality, regulatory, cybersecurity, privacy, and commercial guardrails visible.
Key Responsibilities
1. Value-Chain & Ecosystem Entrepreneurship: Shape the end-to-end value chain for Venture propositions by defining partner roles, Philips control points, make/buy choices, supplier/ODM/OEM/JDM collaboration
models, data flows, service implications, and opportunities for AI-supported acceleration.
2. Venture Execution & Scale Readiness: Translate Venture opportunities into execution-ready value-chain setups, including partner readiness, handover criteria, launch and scale prerequisites, risk visibility, and the
practical requirements needed to move from validation to launch readiness and scale-up.
3. Partner Ecosystem & Collaboration Model: Architect and orchestrate the partner collaboration model across suppliers, startups, technology providers, licensing, co-development, resale, universities, accelerators,
and selected ecosystem partners. Work closely with Operations & Technology for technical scouting and technology feasibility and create clear briefs for Procurement/Commodity for formal supplier scouting, sourcing,
negotiation, and relationship accountability.
4. AI Value-Stream Acceleration: Map priority value streams within the broader Venture value-chain architecture, identify the highest-value opportunities for AI and agentic ways of working, coach SMEs to build or adopt
fit-for-purpose agents, organize Digital/Data or external support where needed, and create selected MVP agents to demonstrate value and accelerate adoption.
5. AI Change Leadership & Capability Building: Lead adoption of human-in-command AI and agentic workflows by building SME/champion capability, keeping teams at a similar pace of learning, helping people understand
how their work changes, and embedding new ways of working into daily Venture execution.
6. Functional Interface & Handover: Define the target value-chain setup, partner model, readiness criteria, and control points before Procurement, Operations & Technology, Quality/Regulatory, Legal/IP, Privacy/
Security, Digital/Data, Finance, and other expert functions execute their functional accountabilities.
7. Scale The Venture Way Of Working: Standardize the proven value-stream maps, AI workflows, data-source connections, collaboration model, and handover criteria that this role develops, so they can be reused
across future Venture propositions and scaled into G&B or wider PH where relevant.
Skills and Qualifications
1. Transformation & Change Management Leadership: Proven ability to lead cross-functional change in Philips environments, including international team leadership, capability building, workshop-based transformation,
and adoption of new ways of working in daily execution.
2. Strategic Operating Model Thinking: Ability to design how people, processes, partners, data, and technology work together in practice, drawing on experience in Philips Innovation Services, business-partner roles,
DfX, and end-to-end process improvement.
3. Matrix Leadership & Stakeholder Influence: Strong track record of aligning senior stakeholders and expert functions across business, procurement, innovation, quality, operations, finance, and suppliers without depending
on formal reporting lines.
4. Ecosystem Orchestration: Practical experience shaping collaboration across suppliers, partners, ODM/OEM/JDM-related contexts, internal functions, and external innovation ecosystems, with a strong supplier-enabled
innovation lens.
5. AI / Agentic Workflow Fluency: Hands-on ability to use LLMs, dashboards, automation, SQL, Python, Power BI/QlikSense, and emerging agentic workflows to improve productivity, decision preparation, reporting,
and day-to-day ways of working.
6. Business Process & Value-Stream Improvement: Proven ability to map workflows, identify friction, simplify processes, and scale improved ways of working using DfX, lean thinking, structured problem solving, whitespot
identification, and cross-functional roadmaps.
7. Risk-Balanced Judgment: Ability to move fast while recognizing where Philips guardrails matter most, including quality, regulatory, cybersecurity, privacy, legal, brand, and commercial considerations, and making
those trade-offs visible in business decisions.
8. Coaching & Capability Building: Proven ability to develop local champions, help teams build confidence, and translate new methods into repeatable practice, while keeping human accountability clear for important
decisions.
