HR Manager
HBK | Marlborough, Massachusetts and supporting Williston, VT
Salary Range: $85,000–$100,000 annually | Full-Time
Do you love solving problems? Have you ever said, "Go big or go home"? Do you believe that doing it right is the only way to do something? Are you frustrated not being able to make changes you know would generate improvements? We are looking for people with the qualities that lead to success, and we’d love to talk to you about being part of our team. We prefer to solve the big problems for our customers; the ones that no one else can. We are growing and evolving in all aspects of our business, and we need brilliant leaders to accelerate our momentum. If hard work and achieving your goals get you excited, this is the job for you.
At HBK, we combine engineering expertise, innovative technology, and a passion for solving complex problems. But behind every great solution are great people—and that's where you come in.
We're looking for a hands-on HR Manager who enjoys working with people, helping managers succeed, solving everyday challenges, and making the workplace a place where people want to be.
This isn't a job where you'll spend all day building presentations about HR. You'll roll up your sleeves, work directly with employees and managers, keep things running smoothly, and help make good things happen across our Marlborough, Massachusetts , and Williston, Vermont, operation.
If you enjoy variety, value relationships, have good judgment, and believe HR should be both a business partner and a resource for employees, you might be exactly who we're looking for.
What will you be doing?
A little bit of everything—and that's what makes this role interesting!
Be the go-to HR person.
- Build relationships with employees and managers at all levels.
- Answer questions, offer practical advice, and help people navigate workplace challenges.
- Handle employee relations issues with professionalism, fairness, and a healthy dose of common sense.
- Coach managers through difficult conversations, performance concerns, and the occasional situation that doesn't come with an instruction manual.
Find great people and help them succeed.
- Partner with hiring managers to recruit talented people who will make a difference.
- Help new employees feel welcome and get off to a great start.
- Support performance reviews, goal setting, employee development, and career growth.
- Help managers recognize great work, address performance issues, and build stronger teams.
Keep the HR engine running.
- Coordinate benefits, leave administration, onboarding, offboarding, and other day-to-day HR activities.
- Support compensation reviews, salary planning, and incentive programs.
- Maintain accurate employee records and HR systems.
- Work with payroll and internal partners to make sure employees are paid accurately and HR processes run smoothly.
Keep us on the right track.
- Help ensure compliance with federal and Massachusetts and Vermont employment laws.
- Maintain HR policies and help employees and managers understand how they apply.
- Support workplace investigations and sensitive employee matters.
- Keep up with changing employment requirements and recommend improvements when you spot a better way to do something.
Make work better.
- Look for ways to simplify processes, improve the employee experience, and make HR more effective.
- Support employee engagement surveys and turn feedback into meaningful action.
- Help build a culture where people take ownership, work together, and feel proud of what they accomplish.
- Jump in wherever you're needed. We're a team, and sometimes the most important thing you can do is simply help solve a problem.
What makes you a great fit?
You don't need to have every answer memorized—but you should know how to find the right answers.
We're looking for someone who:
- Has at least five years of progressive HR experience and enjoys being hands-on.
- Has experience with employee relations, recruiting, performance management, benefits, and HR administration.
- Is comfortable advising managers and having honest, sometimes difficult conversations.
- Can handle confidential information with discretion and sound judgment.
- Is organized enough to manage multiple priorities without losing sight of the people behind the paperwork.
- Communicates clearly, builds trust, and treats people fairly.
- Is proactive, resourceful, and willing to roll up their sleeves rather than wait for someone else to solve the problem.
- Can balance empathy with accountability—and knows that being a good HR partner sometimes means having the tough conversation.
Bonus points if you have:
- Experience in manufacturing, engineering, technology, or another technical environment.
- Experience working with an HR information system and Microsoft Office.
- A PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification.
Who you'll work with
You'll report directly to the HR Director, with a dotted-line reporting relationship to the Plant Director. You'll be an important HR partner to local leadership while collaborating with the broader HR team to support employees and business objectives.
What you'll get out of it
We believe taking care of our people is just as important as the work we do.
- Competitive pay: Annual base salary of $85,000–$100,000, depending on qualifications and experience.
- Bonus opportunities: The opportunity to earn additional compensation through applicable bonus programs.
- 401(k) match: Help build your financial future with employer matching contributions, subject to plan terms.
- Benefits: A comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, paid time off, and other standard employee benefits, subject to applicable plan terms.
- Ownership at Spectris: An opportunity to participate in Spectris ownership programs, subject to program eligibility and applicable terms.
- Variety: No two days are exactly alike.
- Impact: Your work will make a real difference to employees, managers, and the business.
- Partnership: You'll work directly with leaders and employees to solve problems and make things better.
- Ownership and initiative: You'll have the opportunity to improve processes, take responsibility, and see the results of your work.
Compensation:
The pay range for this position is $90,000 to $100,000 annually plus 10% bonus. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be dependent on factors, including but not limited to the individual's qualifications, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as physical work location within the state.
Ready to make a difference?
If you're the kind of HR professional who enjoys helping people, solving problems, keeping things organized, and making the workplace better one day at a time, we'd love to hear from you.
Bring your HR expertise, your curiosity, your good judgment, and your sense of humor. We'll bring the interesting challenges.
Let's make great things happen together at HBK!
