PhaseV is redefining how clinical trials are designed and run. Using advanced causal machine learning and generative AI, we help biopharma and biotech companies make faster, more accurate, and more efficient development decisions — detecting hidden signals in clinical data and turning them into actionable insights across the trial lifecycle.
Headquartered in Cambridge, MA with our R&D and medical teams based in Tel Aviv, PhaseV is backed by leading investors including Insight Partners and Accel, and has raised $65M to date. We work with top pharmaceutical companies, biotechs, and CROs — and our platform has driven reported outcomes of up to 40% reductions in enrollment time, 50% lower trial costs, and 30%+ higher probability of trial success.
Our platform is built around four core modules:
- Response Optimizer — uncovers patient response heterogeneity to identify optimal treatment populations
- Trial Optimizer — designs adaptive, Bayesian trial designs tailored to sponsor objectives
- Portfolio Optimizer — uses causal graphs to inform portfolio-level development decisions
- Clin Ops Optimizer — applies causal ML to site selection and real-time trial performance
The Role
We're looking for a Medical Director to join our Tel Aviv team and serve as a key clinical voice across all four PhaseV product modules — partnering with data scientists, engineers, and product teams internally, and engaging directly with pharma, biotech, and CRO clients externally. This is a hybrid role requiring a minimum of 4 days/week in our Tel Aviv office, reflecting how much we value in-person collaboration across our clinical, data science, and product teams.
What You'll Do
Clinical & Scientific Leadership
- Provide clinical oversight and interpretation for PhaseV's causal ML-based models across all product modules
- Ensure the highest standard of clinical relevance and accuracy in platform outputs and client deliverables
- Serve as a clinical expert in client-facing discussions, translating data science outputs into actionable medical insights
- Guide internal data science, engineering, and product teams on clinical concepts relevant to ongoing projects
Business Development Support
- Partner with the business development team to communicate PhaseV's clinical value proposition to pharma, biotech, and CRO partners
- Participate in client meetings, partnership discussions, and proposal development as a clinical subject matter expert
- Develop and refine presentation content for BD meetings, pitches, and scientific discussions
New Product Development
- Partner with product and data science teams to inform new platform capabilities
- Provide clinical feasibility input during early-stage product ideation and design
- Help define clinically meaningful use cases, endpoints, and success criteria for new offerings
What We're Looking For
Required
- M.D. degree
- Excellent communication and presentation skills; comfortable in scientific, business development, and executive-level settings
- Fluent in English
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, interdisciplinary startup environment
- Curiosity and willingness to engage with advanced biostatistics and causal machine learning (technical expertise not required)
Preferred
- Experience supporting business development efforts
- Experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, or CRO environments
- Experience in health technology, AI in healthcare, or related fields
- Track record of thought leadership: publications, conference presentations, or industry writing
- Prior exposure to adaptive trial design, Bayesian methods, or AI/ML in clinical settings
- Working knowledge of clinical trial methodology and regulatory frameworks (FDA, EMA, GCP)
- A second advanced degree (Ph.D. or MBA) is a differentiator, though not required
Why PhaseV
- Be at the frontier of clinical trial innovation — your work directly shapes how drugs are developed and approved
- Work alongside a world-class team of data scientists, clinicians, and operators who are genuinely passionate about impact
- Diverse, intellectually demanding problem set — no two projects are alike
- Highly collaborative, flat startup culture with meaningful ownership and career growth
- Dual-continent presence (Boston + Tel Aviv) with a global client base
PhaseV is an equal opportunity employer.
