Wealthfront is looking for a Senior Content Designer to help chart the future vision of Home Lending. This role will be joining a tight team of very senior content and product designers. Wealthfront pioneered automated investing by offering broad access to sophisticated investing strategies at a fraction of the cost of traditional financial advisers. That formed the beginning of a much broader vision for how our products can serve our mission to build a financial system that favors people over institutions. Since then, we’ve continued to expand the ways we help our clients build long-term wealth through saving, investing, and more.
Success in this role will require excellent communication skills, cross-functional collaboration, strategic thinking, a high bar for craft, and executional excellence. We’re looking for someone who is excited to deeply understand our financial products, passionate about humanizing product experiences, untangling jargon, and who loves writing clear, concise content. Passion and/or experience building consumer financial technology products is highly desirable.
This role will collaborate very closely with cross-functional counterparts on product design, user research, product management, engineering, legal and compliance to solve some of the most complex challenges around our products. You’ll be expected to drive content-led initiatives that are relevant, aligned with the product and company strategy, and are important priorities on the roadmap. You’re interested in understanding client behavior and are motivated to craft content that speaks to clients emotionally, as well as rationally.
You will also partner with our creative brand team to craft our brand voice and tone, and bring it to life across our product experiences. You will champion content that’s empowering, enlightening and authentic, but adjust tone based on where the client is in their journey.
You should genuinely care for our mission to “build a financial system that favors people, not institutions” and be a zealous advocate for client needs. This genuine passion motivates you to proactively identify areas that require greater attention, bring solutions to address them and mobilize more people to prioritize the improvements.
Design at Wealthfront
Unlike many companies where design teams are trained to make incremental changes and work through a chain of hierarchy to advocate for bold new ideas, the design team at Wealthfront is expected to be innovative, creative and strategic, because design and content are critical to realizing our vision.
We’re empathetic people advocates. We're interested in what our clients need to know, and what they don't. We organize and present content in the most straightforward, useful, and inclusive way. And we’re not just wordsmiths (although we are good at that, too). We partner strategically with our product management and product design counterparts to shape client experiences.
Content designers are expected to define problems, new opportunities and solutions that are deeply rooted in human psychology and behavior as well as a sound understanding of our technology and business, all in very tight collaboration with engineers, product managers, researchers, legal, and data scientists. In an environment where we’re making big bets, and innovation is encouraged, we embrace failure and care much more about the magnitude of success versus percentage of times we are successful. And unlike many organizations, content design and product design are equal partners to engineering and product and each plays an important role in the executive staff that collectively make all critical strategic decisions.
We’re a remote friendly team and open to candidates in the US.
5+ years of content design experience in a consumer software company; experience in building financial technology products is a plus.
You have a portfolio that demonstrates how clear communication can make or break a product experience. This includes a range of content and writing abilities for product experiences, such as product screens, notifications, microcopy, emails, FAQs, style guides, and patterns.
You are a self-starter with the ability to manage multiple projects across teams, navigate ambiguity, quickly tailor effective content approaches within constraints, and influence the user experience beyond just content.
You take a collaborative mindset, with experience working across disciplines and with multiple stakeholders (e.g. product managers, product designers, and engineers.)
You define and execute content design strategies for your team’s products and features.
You understand UX design principles and best practices for mobile and web, and you have an eye for the details and an interest in the finer points of wordsmithery.

About Wealthfront
Here at Wealthfront, our mission is to create a financial system that favors people, not institutions. We do this by leveraging technology to build powerful, low-cost, and easy-to-use financial products that help modern investors grow and manage their money.
We started with the ambition to transform the investment advisory industry when we pioneered automated investing in 2011. By automating strategies typically reserved for the wealthy, we unlocked access to high quality investment advice for a digitally-native generation that was underserved by traditional institutions. Since then, we've expanded to a full suite of products designed to help our clients save, spend, invest, and borrow for all of their goals, including:
•A Cash Account that, through our program banks, offers one of the highest annual percentage yields on uninvested cash in the industry, while providing instant and secure access to your money with no account fees and a full suite of checking features.
• Multiple automated investing portfolios managed for you and tailored for long-term wealth building across various financial needs, including general investing, retirement, family wealth management, and more. Our taxable investing accounts are designed to unlock tax savings through sophisticated strategies like fixed income, tax-loss harvesting, and direct indexing—which we offer at industry-leading low costs and accessible minimums.
• A zero-commission Brokerage Account with 8000+ stocks and ETFs that’s designed to give DIY investors an incredibly easy way to get started investing. Plus, with our Cash Account, they can earn a high yield (from program banks) until the minute they’re ready to invest.
• A digital-first mortgage experience designed to reduce costs, remove unnecessary friction, and aim to offer rates consistently below the national average.
Our award-winning products have attracted over 1.5 million funded clients who trust us with more than $100 billion of their hard earned savings on our platform—and we're far from done. If you’re inspired to help us reshape the financial industry as we create our next chapter, let’s talk!
