This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Software Engineer (Go) based in Brazil.
In this role, you will contribute to the development of a large-scale network source-of-truth platform used by thousands of organizations worldwide, including major global enterprises. You will join a specialized Observability team responsible for building backend services that power network discovery, monitoring, reconciliation, and infrastructure automation. Working primarily with Go, you will design scalable, multi-tenant systems and reliable data ingestion pipelines capable of handling hundreds of thousands of network devices. You will collaborate with an international team of experienced engineers across Europe and the United States, contributing to both open-source and commercial solutions. AI-assisted development is an integral part of the engineering culture, offering opportunities to leverage modern AI tools to improve productivity, testing, and code quality. This is a high-ownership, technically challenging opportunity for an experienced engineer who enjoys solving complex distributed systems and networking problems.
Accountabilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain high-performance Go services supporting network discovery, reconciliation, observability, monitoring, and fleet management.
- Build and optimize multi-tenant data ingestion pipelines for network device information, ensuring reliable delivery, idempotency, and predictable performance under high workloads.
- Develop mechanisms to collect, process, and reconcile device identity and network state using protocols such as SNMP, gNMI, and CLI-based collection.
- Design, implement, and evolve gRPC and Connect RPC APIs using Protocol Buffers (Protobuf).
- Work with PostgreSQL, including database migrations, Redis, and RabbitMQ to support scalable backend services and event-driven architectures.
- Implement and maintain service instrumentation using OpenTelemetry, ensuring accurate, meaningful metrics and effective monitoring.
- Apply AI-assisted engineering practices, including AI-powered coding, automated test generation, and interactive development workflows using tools such as Claude Code.
- Write technical specifications, create architectural diagrams, and actively contribute to system design and technical decision-making.
- Support customers, investigate production incidents, troubleshoot technical issues, and participate in on-call responsibilities, with coverage aligned to US time zones.
- Develop clean, maintainable, secure, and well-tested code while contributing to peer reviews and engineering best practices.
- Collaborate with a small, cross-functional, internationally distributed engineering team to continuously improve product quality, reliability, and performance.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a strong background in backend development.
- Strong professional experience with Go as a primary programming language.
- Hands-on experience developing gRPC and/or Connect RPC APIs defined using Protobuf.
- Solid experience with PostgreSQL, including database migrations, Redis, and RabbitMQ.
- Experience designing and maintaining multi-tenant services and implementing OAuth2 / OIDC authentication and authorization.
- Strong knowledge of observability, monitoring, and instrumentation, particularly OpenTelemetry.
- Practical experience with Docker and Docker Compose.
- Experience deploying and managing applications using Kubernetes.
- Good understanding of event-driven architectures, including at-least-once message delivery, idempotent consumers, and reliable messaging patterns.
- Solid understanding of computer networking, including network devices, configurations, protocols, and network layers.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, preferably using GitHub Actions.
- Everyday, hands-on experience using AI coding assistants and development tools, ideally Claude Code.
- Availability to work with US time zones, preferably Eastern Time, including collaboration on customer support, production incidents, and on-call coverage.
- Advanced English proficiency (minimum C1 level), with the ability to communicate effectively within an international engineering team.
- Strong problem-solving abilities, technical ownership, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to software development.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with distributed teams in a fast-paced environment.
Nice to have:
- Experience with MQTT, gNMI, or other network device and IoT communication protocols.
- Knowledge of Python and related technologies such as pytest, Django, FastAPI, and REST APIs.
- Familiarity with Swagger and/or Postman for API documentation and testing.
- Experience with Playwright or other end-to-end testing frameworks.
- Cloud computing experience, preferably with AWS services such as EC2, S3, and EKS.
- Previous experience contributing to open-source projects or working on large-scale distributed systems.
Benefits:
- Fully remote work: Work from anywhere in Brazil, with the flexibility to work remotely, from an office, or in a hybrid arrangement where applicable.
- Competitive compensation: B2B contract with a monthly compensation range of USD 3,800–5,000.
- Flexible working arrangements: Flexible working hours and an adaptable approach to organizing your work.
- Professional development: Access to internal training sessions and a dedicated learning and development budget.
- Structured onboarding: Hands-on onboarding designed to help you integrate smoothly and become productive quickly.
- Collaborative environment: Work alongside experienced engineering professionals who are passionate about technology and innovation.
- International exposure: Collaborate with distributed teams and contribute to solutions serving customers worldwide.
- Project flexibility: Opportunities to change projects and explore different technical challenges based on your skills and interests.
- Technical innovation: Work with modern backend technologies, cloud infrastructure, network automation, and AI-assisted engineering tools.
- Employment type: B2B contract.
- Location: Brazil, fully remote.
